1989 d 250

HI All,



I recently bought a 1989 D250 PU. Dose anybody know what the factory tow rating on this truck is?... Mine has the 3 sp 727 trans and I assume the 3. 08 rear end. I do not have the under bed trans cooler but I did add a large plate type trans cooler from DTT.

I think it'd be around 15000, but dont hold me to that. With 4. 10s and a 5spd, I had a GCVW of ~17000 with my 91 D350.

Thanks for the input guys. I think the GVWR is the max of the truck itself (weight of truck plus cargo) not what the truck is factory rated to tow... . Because of the higher rear end in this truck It seems a little more sluggish at towing heavy weights... Well at least more so than my 93 with the lower rear end. I also notice the temp gauge tends to move more when towing up a hill than in my 93... . I attribute this to the inefficiency of the cross flow radiator and

the higher rear end (like towing with the 93 in OD).

Payload allowance is 4165 max. minus optional equipment and occupants.

Actually what he's looking for is GCVW, Gross Combined Vehicle Weight, that's the maximum allowable weight for the truck and trailer together. In my 93 manual it's after the GVWR information.

GCVW, There us no such thing in the 1989 FSM Diesel Supplement or the sales literature I have, My FSM is out on loan but I'll check it eventually...
