1989 D250 with 727 torqueflite shifting issues

Hi all. The trans in my truck doesn't seem to want to shift into second gear unless you lift off the throttle and get back into it. I serviced it back in 2016 at 150k miles with Mopar ATF and it now has 171k. I also have an issue where the truck won't hold in park and the shifter sometimes gets stuck when put down in first or second gear so I'm thinking that's hopefully just an adjustment issue. Not sure if the trans is on its way out or if it just needs serviced again. The truck is completely stock except for a HVLP from the hungry diesel. Any input is appreciated, thanks!

Check the front band adjustment but it sounds like you may have a direct clutch problem developing. With the sticky shifting could have a problem on the rooster comb on the VB. Check the working of the shifter cable with linkage disconnected and see how it works by hand to isolate where the problem could be.
