Gooseneck Air-Ride Hitch, Any Recomendations?

Samsung Microwave?Beware!

The wife and I are looking into getting a travel trailer. We are considering going new as there are several nice priced models... .

BUT a friend's relative has a 1990 25' airstream... I do not know the model etc yet... and my main concern is the weight of the trailer.

It apparently was used once when new and has not been since... . I know the skins are expensive to work on and to look for water damage especially considering this is Florida.

With the exceptions of electrical and plumbing (and of course making everything is functional) is there anything else to look at? I have read where that airstreams as a whole are expensive to repair and work on... any insight on this?

Als provided it is in as "good" shape as we have been told ... . is $18,500 good, bad, or ugly as far as an asking price?

Any info is appreciated... I have already found some links to look at but want as much more info as possible.

I bought my first Airstream ('69 thirty-one foot) in 1983. It had been damaged and the repair was not first class, but I loved that trailer! Kept it until 1999 when I bought my 34 foot model. I sold it for more than I paid for it.

I love Airstreams, but not everyone likes them. You'll sacrifice headroom (I'm 6'3" but it doesn't bother me), storage space, and you may be lumped into the category of old codgers whatever your age:). You'll gain outstanding towing characteristics and resulting decent fuel mileage, to say nothing of the structural integrity.

There's not much to worry about with water damage except in the floor. Of course, I don't live where it is humid. However, the type of construction assures pretty good security over time.

If I were looking at the one you mention, I'd spend a few dollars and hire a professional RV service tech to go over it to make sure I didn't miss something. The price sounds a little high, but that's always negotiable. Airstream changed bodies in 1993 but there is not that much difference in appearance

With the independent suspension, it will tow very well. Its weight dry should be around 5100 lb and tongue weight 700 lb (those are specs for 1995 model). These newer models are not hard to work on, imho. They are also not more prone to leaks than any other trailer.

I have a 1977-25' Airstream, also. It does tow beautifully. Some things on the trailer are built to bullet-proof specifications and other things are not. Watch the holding tank capacities! My gray water only holds 7 gals. If your'e remote camping, you're in trouble. It was designed for snowbirds to stay in RV parks, only. I , also, did not like the lack of storage. I now have a '98 Nash, 25 footer. Much more liveable.
