I searched and found two conflicting posts about the size of the nut on the fan. One said 36 mm and the other said 1 7/16 (which is about 1/2mm larger). Before I spend way too much for the wrong open end wrench can someone definitely tell me what size that nut is?
Either should work. Just did mine and 3 others this weekend.
I used wrenches that my son had at his shop... . they were made specially for fan nuts. By that I mean they were not expensive shiny chrome combo wrenches, rather they were black stamped steel open end on both sides.
You can probably buy them by asking for fan nut wrenches rather than by looking for a standard large wrench. It should be a lot cheaper.
I say this because when I asked my son for a 1 7/16 wrench he said I don't have one that size. But when I told him what I needed it for he said "oh, I have fan nut wrenches".
The Dodge fan nut is 1&7/16 at least thats whats on the wrench I use when I put a KDP to rest. The last truck I did was an '89 and it came off just fine.
