I've been searching but haven't found why I have cracks on the cowl under the windshield. I was making a check list to see what was needed to be repaired before paint and came across the cracks. Anyone know a good way to repair them? Ill have to pull the window to see the extent of the passenger side crack.

Yup, typical cowl crack. There was a TSB out on this, with repair parts. Now the parts are gone. I made a patch for mine. Just tie the 2 pieces in together and weld it good.

The one going towards the window is the body seam. It may be cracked underneath, hard to tell. Usually just has sealer on that joint.

Thanks!!!

parts not available

Im going to pull the window and dash to hopefully get a better look, I hope LMC comes out with body repair stuff for the 1st gens!Oo.

If you decide to weld the crack, you'll need to remove the brazing the factory used when the body was assembled. The original instructions for the factory patch panels advised not to weld the seam, just use the included adhesive.

I just repaired these on the crewcab body I put on my truck, they are right, the parts have been gone for years... .

I just cleaned and welded the cracks up, and then formed a panel that overlayed the area and welded that on (by formed I mean a hammer and a grinder with a cutting disk). I will try and find a picture or two this evening

I brazed up the crack, than fabbed a piece to go over it. I thought I had more pics, only found this.

I also welded in the gap down the side a little. You can just see the spot of weld.
