Cummins in a boat?

Cummins NT855-GA Maintenance?

Curious if anyone has tried to put a 12v into a 2006 thru 2008 Dodge Ram. My 1992 body rusted out, had a great running 12v with a 5 speed, I ran across a 2007 2500 without engine or transmission. It was a diesel and a standard trans, I know I will have electric conversion problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I know I will have electric conversion problems.

This is the ultimate understatement. I put a '95 12V in a '98.5 24V truck and it was no fun from the electrical side and I didn't have to deal with the 3rd Gen electronics. You'll basically need to make the '07 think that the 12V engine is a CR by using CR sensors. Still going to be trouble, though.

On Facebook there was a post of 6.7 new with a VE So there is hope . Im putting a 92 in a 98 that had a bad V10 . Id get the
Sending units that plug into the engine wiring harness and with a manual it should be fine and the speedO works off the rearend so your fine

You're swap is basically like mine but with a 2500 instead of a 1500. It's actually rather simple. The 92 motor just runs off of 12v source so tap that into the ignition switch, put a push to start button and use the relay off the old truck and it will fire right up. Is the harness and ecm in the truck from the old motor? If so all you have to do is use that and the oil pressure and water temp sensor to make the cluster work. The speed sensor is in the rear end.

Because it was the only clean and quick way I could come up with to bypass the ignition switch which runs off the ecm to the motor. Basically all I use my key fob for is keyless entry and to turn the 12v power on so that the push to start button will work.

You can see the button in this video.

If you use the sending units from the oem engine and the only thing the ECM does is the timing what is the issue that happens are you useing the stock guages at all

Yes that's what I did. I used the original temp sensor and oil pressure sensor. The fuel gauge is controlled by the float still in the tank and the speed sensor is in the rear end. The only gauge that doesn't work on my cluster is my tach but I'm looking into fixing that.

The stock ignition switch no longer works on the truck. The push button bypasses that by being connected to 12 volt source. It acts as the new ignition switch and operates the starter to run the truck.

No it didn't it just no longer is functional because the oem ecm will not let it work due to the oem motor and rest of the sensors not being there. In a 98 you may not have that issue, the ignition switch may work without issue because there isn't a tipm.

I agree with the others. This should be early breezy. The older engine just needs an ignition source to run. That could be anywhere the voltage is on with the key on. Then wire the starter to operate. The older glow plugs could be wired to a push button and an added starter relay. Push for a few seconds when needed. Then start.
