I just went to Geno's Garage site to check on the price of a Fleetguard filter for my 1993 truck and they list the LF3894 filter as 24 valve only? I just bought a case of these because they were listed in this forum for the Cummins motor and the year model wasn't specified. Does that mean I can't use this filter in my 93 12 valve motor? I'd hate to have to send them back! Racer :confused:

Here is a couple a couple places to filter through that should give you your answer:

Cummins Link

Fleetguard Online

There was also a thread posted by Dkevdog back in July this year, titled "Correct Oil filter - READ - IMPORTANT!!!" Take a look there... its a good posting to book mark or print off a copy for your archives.

From my research it's either the LF 3349 (specified in my Cummins manual) or the tad more expensive micro glass LF 3552 is also my reccomendation.

No help here?

Thanks Honkin, but neither of these sites you posted say anything about this filter. As a matter of fact, Fleetguad doesn't even list it on their site? According to them, it doesn't exist. I pulled the Fram off and other than the Fleetguard having more holes in the top to flow more oil, there's no external difference that I can see. So, I put the LF3894 on it anyway:rolleyes: I guess we'll see if it'll work!... ... ... ..... Racer

Hi Racer;

Regarding the Cummins site, I just gave that as FYI for their recommended filter part no.

Regarding the Fleetguard site... seems to be be not working right now. I was in there last week and when I punched into the cross reference section... Cummins... BTA5. 9. . 1993... etc, I got a whole list of Fleetguard recommended filters (about 4 or 5). Now it doesn't seem to be working at all! I should have taken a print out for my archives. ... Sorry Bud, I tried!

I guess when ya go to different filters "we pays our dues and takes our chances. " I know when I bought the truck I always believed FRAM to be good and used it for many years on this truck as well all my other vehicles. When I discovered that the oil filter was a critical component on this truck and only special filters are to be used, I dumped the FRAM and got only the recommended one.

You'll probably be OK with the ones you purchased. But, if I were you, I'd still call up Cummins and double check with them, unless someone who reads this post knows for sure, that its OK, and lets us know.

Cheers
