Guys, I need your input on what to replace here. I have an oil leak that seems to be coming from the steering pump. After researching here, I purchased an ebay vacuum pump O-ring rebuilt kit with a DVD to fix it.

Now after checking the whole thing again, I am pretty much confused if that kit will fix this oil leak. The leak is definitely oil. Would the internal vacuum pump seal (the one you have to drive in with a rubber mallet) stop this leak? If oil makes it through the old bad seal, would the steering pump show the leakage?

Or is there another O-ring that goes into the power steering pump itself that needs to be replaced?

The vacuum pump looks dry.

The arrows on my attached pictures show where the leaks seem to be coming from.

Thanks in advance!
Denis

PS Forum admins, please move the thread to the 12V. My bad.

You are indicating a leaking o-ring on the p/s pump reservoir. No engine oil leak there, just p/s fluid. Going to the trouble to repair this, I would recommend sealing the vacuum pump and p/s pump. Resealing the p/s pump i a lot of trouble considering you can get an reman for a bit over $100.

Thanks, hsmith! I am glad I didn't pull everything apart today to do it again to fix the same leak :) I will order a reservoir. Appreciate your help!

No need to replace the reservoir. It has an o-ring there. Get a p/s pump seal kit. If they don't list one for your year model, have them back up a couple years. Same pump.
