1995 Chev Injection pump R&R

Has anyone done one? I got an emergency phone call from my boss and a customer. Apparently the local Chevy Dealer told them the injection pump went south. Hard starting and low power. Sounds fishy to me.



BUT at any rate... . Right now the customer is prepaired to replace the injection pump. I have not done one on one of these trucks. Can anyone give me any insite as to what to watch for. The Book time is around 6 hours. Does that sound right?

Nothing to it. Pull the intake manifold off and the oil fill tube. You will take 3 bolts out through the oil fill tube opening, they bolt the gear to the pump.



You will also need a wrench thats bent on the box end to get the 2 bottom nuts loose on the pump. They should be 12 point nuts.



Take the injection lines loose and pull the pump out.



Also once you have it back together you will need a Tech 2 to set the TDC offdet learn. I would set it high on the scale which is -. 8, anything over that on a stock truck will set the SEL. If you don't do the TDC Offset learn the truck will not have the power it should.



I have done enough of them that I can knock one out in about 3-4 hours. Also on need to remove injection lines from the motor.

Thanks Greg! I didn't know about the Tech 2... but it's to late. The job is already done, and litterally on it's way to mexico! It took me about 6 hours. Not to bad, easily could have been done faster if I had done one. Thanx for the tips, next time I'll know!

I could always get by with just taking the drivers side injection lines completely off and leaving the passenger side attached to the motor. A swivel socket is also a very helpful thing to have around taking the intake manifold off.
