The power steering went out on my '96, but the brakes still work. The problem started when we replaced the seal between the vac and ps pumps due to a leak. CAD doesn't engage either.

What should we be looking at replacing - the vac pump or the powersteering pump? I'm not familiar with these vacuum-assist systems. Thanks.

On a 96, the brakes are vacuum assist, so the vacuum pump is working. Make sure you did not lose or damage coupler as ps pump drives off the vac pump.
