1996 Dodge 3500

I've been driving a Dodge 3500 4X4, Turbo Diesel now for over a year and I love it. Especially the sound, is great knowing the my Dodge is power by the Best Diesel Engine in the Market (CUMMINS) My only problem lately is hard starting after short trip of less then about 2 miles and an occasional cold start. Any ideas, Fuel pressure seems fine, no leaks and fuel filter is new.

Welcome, Do a search in the 12 valve with the words hard starting. I am sure the answer will come up.

Welcome to the TDR. You might try using some fuel additive to get the injectors clean. How many miles, and how often driven? I've had good luck with DCI+ from Lubrication Engineers on my Mom's 85 Mercedes TD. Car sits for 6 months between uses, and now runs good! Have you heard about BOMBING yet?

Check your fuel return line,or the shutdown solenoid. I tend to lean towards the shutdown soleniod,since it happens without the truck sitting long or overnight.

Try starting with your foot on the pedal slightly see if that makes a differance (more fuel) mine had the same problem , raising the idle cured the problem for me
