Attention: TDR Forum Junkies 
In '98 Cummins started using the "marine" version of the HG in place of the standard one used up through '97. In the picture below you can see a '97 HG next to a "marine" version. You can clearly see some of the obvious differences. The weak spot for external leaks is the right front corner under the t-stat, which in this photo is in the upper part of the picture. There is no need to ask for the marine version when ordering as it's been the standard for years now. The gasket in this photo had a compression to water jacket leak.
