2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1996 Rusted Rockers

Hey all, new to this forum. Been a long time cummins owner. I recently found some rot spots. is o the drivers rocker and pass rocker where the extended cab meets the cab. The drivers developed to a hole this week and i was looking for tips to fix/repair this

My Dad had the same thing with his '95 and I ended up finding a whole cab on craigslist that was for sale... . the truck suffered from a cab fire and the lower cab corners and rockers were the only metal parts to have paint on them... . $50 for the cab, cut the parts off we needed and scrapped the rest for $40.

Rusted Rockers

Big mudflaps and 14" running boards will prevent that from rehappening. I picked up a few stones (SAND HA) spread on the road before I could get them on. Good luck.

"Rusted Rockers" sounds like an older rock band.

I did Rhino lining on the rocker panels and am very, very happy with it. It might be worth talking to a good body shop about the fix for your rust hole, unless you're experienced with body work. Once you get it fixed I can wholeheartedly recommend something like Rhino lining.

I agree..... When I fixed the few spots of rust I had I painted the entire lower parts of the truck and the molded in "fender flares" with Herculiner..... $60 for a gallon got it all plus the tops of the bed rails. I painted up to the first deep body line.

my buddy has line-x on his rockers and i like it, but y problem is i have a hood sripe painted to match my rockers. The truck was painted two summers ago by my uncle in mass. The job was most defianlty rushed through and he didnt care how t ended up. I was very unhappy with the way he treated the truck... . but i got what i got for the cost and i just need to fix these for now. I will prob just buy the rockers and weld then myself. I dont know if i am line-xing them or just repainting them... probly line-x then paint the hood normal
