LoL Extreme...
Wouldnt surprise me if a ford boy told him this spicy little nugget of info.
JesseGray:
If you have a 1997 truck, you have the best injection pump there is. Very reliable, and capable of producing a LOT of power for less $ than a Bullydog downloader. However, you cannot ramp power on the fly just by hitting a button, but you can tweak your pump up high, then use a valet switch to bring it down to more normal levels, if you have the need. Our trucks also have a mechanical fuel transfer pump, much better than the 98. 5+ trucks with motorized pumps, which have a habit of failing within 50k.
Technically, the conversion is possible, but not probable or cost-effective. You would have to change not only the computer, but the injection pump, injectors, injection lines, timing case, lift pump, add an ECU, AND all the electricals would not plug right in, they would have to be updated to the new style connectors. . (I may have missed something also)
PM me if you`d like more info about increasing the HP on your 97.
