I have a 1998 24v ISB with 55,000 miles on it. Lately when I start it cold in the morning, it may run 5-10 seconds & stall. Recycle the heaters & it is a BEAR to restart. Takes maybe 4-6 times to restart. Once it starts & runs awhile it runs good! It will stay running & restart good.

It only does this once in a while, so I sure the dealer will have a hard time duplicating this problem.

Fuel filter has been drained & changed 5-10k ago. It doesn't seem to hesitate after it runs a while.

Could it be the infamous lift pump & if so any key words to ask the dealer to check for? I know telling him I think the lift pump is bad won't work!!

Thanks,

Earle

Check and see if you grid heaters are working, there was another post on here that had grids heaters that worked but weren't pulling enough amps to get the job done. Its real easy to check out your lift pump on a 98 just hook a gauge into your downstream pressure port on the top of the fuel filter. There have also been people that have lost fuel pressure because of a bad connection at the pump itself. Check the plug at the pump and put some dielectric grease in it before you plug it back in.

Have you checked to make sure intake heaters are working correctly?

How about fuel heater working OK?

Are you plugging the coolant heater in at night (1 to 2 hrs before starting)?

That 's all I can thin of now.
