Well looking at replacing the front rotors on my 130k+ truck. My brother said his rotors on a 2000 come off pretty easy. Looking at the 1998 it looks a little more involved. Have not talked to anyone yet but was wanting to get an idea what I need to do to see if I want to do t in my drivway. Thanks for the great forum

You have to pull the hub/bearing Assemblies out to do it. Some are rusted together and require a big hub puller. Mine had been off before to change u-joints so they came right off.

They are a real PIA on a 1998. As mentioned the hub and bearing needs to come off and that can be a challenge in itself. After that it is pretty easy. You need to pound/press the studs out to separate the rotor from the hub and pound/press the studs back in to mount the rotor back on to the hub.

Easy is a relative term..... I pulled mine and though they were tough, they did come right off. I fashioned a puller that worked well on the adapters and the hub. Without a puller it would be a bear, I think you would do more damage then good if you reverted to using a sledge hammer, I never did like beating on anything.

I just did my rotors and pads this last weekend they had started to rust in, but thankfully I had redone the ball joints and u-joints early last summer. I took about 4hrs and three beers to change both sides in my driveway. I have a garage, but it's full of used stuff ( junk, to my wife ) the key to lfe in the truck fast lane is a BIG can of never-seize and lots of it on everthing!

Rotors

I'm doing mine right now. I bought brembo (top of the line)slotted rotors for $175 a pair. If you need the site PM me, or email me at -- email address removed --. Illflem was da man in hooking me up.

Tireack.com (888)541-1777 best price on brembo and they back their stuff! I was told to only use the slotted not the drilled from TDR feedback.

Well thanks all for the replys> That is what I love so much about this place. Lots of help and again Thanks all. :)

I've got to change the ball joints in mine, and I'll probably start on it this weekend. I'm going to put in new u-joints while I've got it apart and I'm probably about due for new pads and rotors too.

Where in Wasilla are you?

Well I guess I need to update the sig. I now live down here in Soldotna. Been here for just over a year, before that I lived off Pitman Rd.
