85 1 ton ford cummins swap

1997 chevy

this posting stuff is all new to me so I hope this is right!:)Building a 1999 ford crew cab dually 6 speed truck. power stroke gave up the ghost so it was time for the old school 12 valve to find its was into the rails. all was going well untill it was time to pull the dead power croke out. it is almost imposable, but it can be done. :-laf . Building a 1993 12 valve for it. mostly stock using a hx 35 turbo and stage 2 nozzles. I am getting adaptor plate from ford cummins.com

I think this will be project BLACK SHEEP:-laf

The power stroke blew the turbo and melted the top of 4 pistons. That is what made this project feasable for me.

I built the cummins bottem end stock. I also decided to go red because the big truck engines are red. and I really like black wrinkle finish on valve covers:cool:

I put the same engine in an '02 f 350 and you are right getting the powerstroke out was not easy. Be sure to put a third gen exhaust manifold on before you put the engine in. I used the 12 valve manifold at first, but it is really close to the A/C box so I just changed it over last month and that was a pretty big job. It would have been much easier when the engine was out. I found the manifold on craigslist for $40. Things look good thanks for posting.
