Hey guys,

Not sure what to do here. While passing someone of a two lane road the engine died when I let off the throttle. Only indication is the check engine light. I have tried the on-off-on-off-on trick to get any codes but it only reads the mileage. Any thoughts???

For a 1999, you'll need to borrow a code reader at AutoZone, etc. The odometer display method won't work on a 1999 or earlier.

Change your fuel filter

When the Fuel Filter plugs it dont mess around it will surge,, sputter and dead throtle . .

if new fuel filter and no codes get the fuel pressure checked and go from there

Good Luck

Mine did the same thing 3 or 4 weeks ago. Ended up it was the VP44. Check your codes to make sure. Hope it is something simpler and cheaper for you than mine was.
