2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1999 ram doors

Hi. The doors on my 99 have some serious rust on the bottom just like almost every other person with a 2nd gen ram. I am very particular about things especially concerning my truck, and I like things to be perfect on it, so the rust just disgusts me to the point where I hate to drive it. Anyways, I know of some doors on a a truck that is either a 96 or 97 that is totaled, but the doors are in perfect shape, according to my dad. My question is will these doors fit my 99 since it has the rear doors that open? I have to get the rear door on the passenger side also, but getting the big doors for a cheap price would be great. The body shops want between $3,000 and $4,000 to do this job. I have no intention of getting rid of the truck since it is paid for and I have a lot invested in it, but it has certainly questioned my brand loyalty to the point where I will probably never again buy another Chrysler product.

Quad Cab front doors are different than reg cab and club cab doors. The difference, or easy way to tell, is quad cab doors are square at the bottom rear and reg cab and club cap doors are round at the bottom rear.

Are the shops quoting for the whole door? If bottom of door is ok or fixable you should be able to get the exterior of the door re-skinned for less.

yes, the shops are telling me that the best way to go is to get a whole door replacement. I thought that getting them re skinned would be a good way to go myself, but everybody seems to be steering me away from that. Thanks for the info, I saw a club cab earlier this morning and saw that they were rounded at the bottom.

I live in sunny Kalifornia so I don't have the rust problem. However, I seem to recall there was an issue about some drain plugs not being removed from the lower portions of the doors which was allowing water build up. I had checked mine and there were no plugs.

Myself living here in the rust belt I am going to continue sqirting oil up in the drain holes on oil change days. I give it an overnight to drip out then wipe off the excess with rag. I dont do bodywork and it is too expensive out of pocket if you ask me plus it seems once you repaint or do body work it doesnt last long here with the salt on the roads. I'll hold on to mine for another 10 years and buy a newer one.

I should have pics. of my refurbished '01 this weekend or early next week. It has been driven 200,000 miles in the "salt belt" of central NY. It is costing me a chunk of change, but this refurb. should get me another 100,000 miles (4 years or so).



By then we'll all know which way the government and the economy is heading. By then the "new" diesel technology will have matured. By then we'll know if recreational camping is even a viable pass time.

i picked up a set of complete rust free doors in S. Carolina a couple years ago for $500/both had them stripped and painted and installed $600, so for a total of $1100 i got oem rust free doors and after a month to let the paint cure i sprayed liquid grease in them. $3-$4000 sounds really steep to do the doors. get ahold of others that need parts and take a vacation down south.
