1st gen/2 gen differences

I know the truck from 89-93 are completely different from the 94+ model's sheetmetal wise but what are the differences in the engines?My father-in-law and brother-in-law both have 95 diesels and the engines don't look all that different from the 93 I test drove a few months ago. The only obvious thing i saw was the elbow going into the top of the motor. The engines are both 12 valve unit's right?Do the newer motors make more power?Thanks for the info. Sorry if these ??'s have been covered in previous posts.

Major differences from the first gen trucks



The second gen trucks 94-98. 5 are 12 valve

Have the p7100 inline injection pump.

Different Transfer Case & Transmissions than first gen

A little more computerized than first gen



98. 5 and up are 24 valve

A lot more computerized than first gen



They are all great trucks.
