1999 QC 2500 4x4 GCWR?

RV construction

The directions say to tap the "Red wire" for the signal to the controller.

There is no red wire at the brake light switch.

The wiring diagram in chiltons shows a white or white and tan wire.

I have tapped the white wire and the brake controller lights up all the LED's as soon as I do that.

Did I screw up?

The controller is from NAPA.

It is labeled 'TAP'.

There is a Black (Power), White (Ground), Blue (Brakes) and red (Brake light switch)

It's the controller

Double checked the wiring. It's okay.

Pull the ckt bkr to the brakes and the controller behaves the way it's"Supposed to".

Problem is, as soon as you put the ckt bkr back, the controller puts on the brakes. Acts like it is in the manual override assembly. Anyway, it's going back to NAPA.

it was that simple

Put in the new controller and voila', all better.

Interesting that a brand new controller was bad.

What ever happend to Quality Control?

Statistical analysis SUCKS.
