I'm going to try and make it up, that's a bad time of year to not be boating, so we will have to see as it gets closer.

Carl,

This is from www.mapqwest.com driving directions,

Total Est. Time: 27 hours, 4 minutes

Total Est. Distance: 1356. 90 miles

Winnepeg to Surrey

Happy Rammin,

Caleb

Man I don't get on the computer for a couple of days and look at all these posts.

Oh yeah RonA well I'll tell you what I will go get the trailer from the ranch, then I will take it up to Grants Pass and have my pickup all loaded up. Then when you come up we can hook it up and you can tow me up there. Then I cant possibly get lost. :-laf :-laf Plus I will save a bundle on diesel. LOL

Carl,

I have driven to Calgary from Richmond in less than 12 hours and I would think that you would make better time on the prairies from Winnipeg to Calgary. A couple of 12- 13 hour days you should be able to make it.

Stomp.

I was starting to worry about you. I have a great idea. I'm going to be bringing up the rear anyway with all you hotrods trying to be out front, so I thought "hey. why don't I bring my trailer up with me and a bunch of 55gal. barrels. Then I can write each of you hotrods names on a barrel. Then you guys can each spray paint the under side of your trucks a different color. That way when I pick up the pieces that fall off, I don't get them mixed up.

I was reading about those long grades heading up north so I ordered a bottle of Pastor Bobs diesel elixer. It came thursday in a box marked Northwest Customs. Seems kinda heavy to be just a bottle. Guess I'll open it up next week for a look. I'm going to town next week and get an ugly truck trophy made up.

Still need to find a motel in Surrey.

Boy, you guys sure sound like your going to have fun on the drive up there. Wish i could go but i'll still be over here in Korea. Stomp, you better take some good pictures for me.

I told you its all about economy well at least after the first tank or two.

So maybe we will have to flip a coin for the rear of the pact? I figure that if I am in the back someone else has to set the speed and if I get right on some ones bumper I can catch the draft and get better economy that way.

I just love the barrel idea. Although I think I have all of my stuff bolted down pretty tight. Yeah right its got 197,000 hard miles on it somethings bound to fall off. :D

I might just have to go get my own trailer to haul my parts pickup behind me just in case we need to rob parts off of it? Too bad its in Klamath falls at my parents house.

OH well knock on wood. Maybe the pastor can give us his blessing and say a little prayer for us to make it up there with no problems.

Chris/cgunthie I will defiantly take pictures I will just have someone else show me how to get them posted. Its to bad you wont be able to make it. Maybe next year.

TTT... . we've added a couple more to the list of guys attending..... keep it going guys..... if you have a friend of know someone who is driving one of these trucks... . invite them to attend. . :D:D:D

pb... .

Bob.

I have a couple of questions. I am planning on having my truck tuned up while I am there. What is the shop rate up there? Also what will be the cost for dyno and will there be a charge for admission? I've never been to one of these so I would like to know what to expect. Pm me if you prefer.

Wow, I didn't think it was that far... In two days I can drive to Florida from here! I think somehow there's something wrong with that estimate from mapqwest... I've driven to Edmonton a few times and I find that a pretty easy 17 hr drive and that's going pretty far north from here. Looks like I wont be able to make it :(

Ron,

Because this is a "1st Gen Open House" event there will not be any formal shop work on that day. The folks who will be there to host are doing it as a volunteer day and Piers didn't want this to become some sort of "closet money making" day.

You'll all be able to have some help, tips, tweaks and so forth but there will be no large scale mechanic/shop labour.

In regards to the dyno, we are intending to do some dyno'ing... . again it will revolve around making this a fun event for meeting, playing and getting to know each other.

It was suggested to me just today, by a family friend that we hold a "lotto draw" to see who dnyo's... . Since we'll have only two fella's with experience running the dyno it would be one heck of a long day for just the two of them to do nothing else... . so, we'll see what the deal is as we get a tad closer. .

I am to have a meeting on this event schedule with Piers in the next few days.

When I have ANY info to pass along you'll all see it here first... . :D

We do plan to have a couple awards for things... . no I'm not gonna tell what just yet... :D

You can probably make some good guesses but I won't confim anything... :p

I would hazard a guess that the dyno time will run maybe $25. 00 or so.

Last year during the all out dyno day we donated all the proceeds to fire relief. PDR poney'd up for the cost to run the dyno and the dyno fee's all went to relief.

This event will mean that there will be a number of guys who've done work on their own trucks and I'm sure that no one will be left wanting for some tuning and tweaking...

Personally, I'll do all I can to help with whatever I can. It's my expectation to contribute the entire day to help out anyone I can... .

Hmmmmm... ... ugliest truck eh ... ..... :p

BTW, I know that there will be fella's who are going to drive a pretty fair distance but I can assure you of one thing... . We'll all do our very best to make this a fun day, and one that will grow each year. .

Have you all noticed how many more guys are buying these trucks and tinkering... last year we had about 20 - 25 1st Genners and several 2nd Genners show up.

This year looks like it will put that to shame... . :D:D:D

Hey pastor

Count me in, I'm real interested in the dino part.

Stomp your coming up I-5? I would be interested in traveling with you guys with the fastest trucks and maybe get a couple of trucks side by side in the double lanes just for bragging rights!

It would be great to finally meet all you guys.

Looks like CB Parker has the most powerful truck in ciber-space:rolleyes:

I wonder if we will see any surprise's in horsepower from the old ve pumped engines! say 500+;)

raodhawg

Sounds great I will shoot you a pm. The more the merrier. Any one else close to I-5 that is interested in going up? Shoot me a pm if you are interested.

Now roadhawg you have the same injectors that I have from the same people no less. You are not being fare saying almost stock in your profile. :-laf :-laf.

Sounds like one of stomps buddies with a sleeper high performance first gen is going to join the caravan. Great. that will give stomp somebody to compete with for pole position. I just wish these guys wouldn't be so sneaky with this high performance stuff. Those of us with the old stock work trucks are not that easily fooled. Well, okay I am, but I bet the rest of them aren't. I still have to find a place to get mine tuned up before I leave. 800 miles is a long way from home, and I'm down to my last roll af duct tape.

RonA

RonA

If anyone of us is a sleeper its Ron. Your the one with the extra valves, p-pump, 6speed, 2nd gen intercooler. Need I go on. You should be able to leave us stock first gens in the dust. :D :D You dont need to tune it you can just trade with me. :-laf :-laf

Awards? I might get "most smoke" award as long as Mike doesn't show up with his honed POD's!!! :D

I am VERY interested in a dyno run... charge me whatever you deem fair.

Bob.

I've decided to do some more work on my truck. This conversion will have me down for most of the summer. Wish I could come up there. I'll try to send up an ugly truck award.

AN UPDATE TO THE 1st GEN OPEN HOUSE

Ok guys, here's an update on our 1st Gen Open House Day...

We are aiming to officially kick this off at 9:00 AM on Sat. the 31st of July... . the day will officially run until 4:00 PM (or thereabouts). We're pretty sure that many will arrive earlier than 9:00 and that's ok too... . you'll just have to hang about till the doors open up.

On my next update for this event, I'll have some locations/names/numbers of places to park/camp/get a room and so forth, for you all. .

All attendee's will need to sign in with name/truck year/mods/home location and so forth. This will get you a number which will be used for events during the day. .

We'll do some dyno'ing (as many as we can) we also expect to ask a modest "donation" for the dyno runs... perhaps like last year, say $20. 00 - $25. 00 which will go to a good cause.

We'll have a "Butt Ugliest Truck" award certificate, some "Show 'N Shine", Longest Drive to Arrive and, a couple other things I'm working on at the moment and certificates for each event... . maybe a bit of "reverse rodeo" driving... ;):D

We (PDR guys/gals) will do as much tuning, tweaking, installs (not major jobs though), a bit of "how to's". We'll make the shop/hoists/tools/help available as best we can for all that we can fit in. .

>>>I'd like to ask all the guys attending if they have a spare part, turbo housing, or what-have-you that you'd like to "Pay It Forward" for other 1st Genners' that would be a nice touch. <<

Piers has in mind to put offer some items that will go for decent discount cost... items that may have been used on a test truck for something or another but in good operating condition. . This will help out those who can't shell out full price for an item otherwise. .

Well, that's all I have for now... We're really looking forward to see all of you guys attend.

It's my hope that is will be a good showing and make it even more likely that we have a 3rd event next year.

pastor bob... . :D:D

TTT sounds good I would really like to dyno and tweak some more. Maybe the Pastor could give us some secrets that he has been holding back.
