Looking through most of my catologues, I can find almost nothing in terms of 1st gen styling accessories. Where have you guys found them?

I know where to go to get performance mod products... but it seems like the big mail order places forget about us lowly 1st genners for flashy dress-up stuff.

I have a flatbed, so I'm not worried much about the rear half. ;)

Most mfg's have droped all items for our year model trucks. About all you can find is left over stock now. There is a place down in Texas that used to have a lot of NOS aftermarket items for our trucks. But I lost thier addy in a computer crash a while back. I hope someone throws a link up for them.

Don't forget the old standby, JC Whitney. I've found some things there over the past few years.

I was at a Western Auto in West Virginia when I was visiting my Mom. Saw a Ventshade for a 1st Gen and almost fainted. They wanted $44 for it, but I got it anyway. Couldn't believe it was there.

I just remembered, I got a catalog from a place that I think was called Acme Truck Parts. They could have a website of the same name. They had a few doo-dads that were for us too.

Looking for anything in particular?

Yeah, like a nice chrome grill guard. chrome trim, chrome tube-style steps (I don't like the tube steps that turn inwards on the ends, I like the ones that are straight the whole length), a visor, maybe molded mud flaps.

I have a long wish-list.

By the way, is there a particular visor that looks best on these trucks?

I've been hunting for some running boards for my '93 -- finally found a place that says Deflecta-Shield is still making some. The only ones I asked about were the cab length diamond plate, but they may have others as well. I'm going to order some next week.

The running boards isn't such a big deal, I'm handy with a welder and a torch... I can probably "custom" fit just about anything. I can't really customize the trim or the visor and stuff... so those need to be specific.

Sun visors

Lund makes sun visors for our trucks, with or without lights. On my "93" the wire is inside the L. door post that came with my trucks wiring harness. Some people complain about wind noise in some parts of the country. I have had my share of wind out here but not bad. One small problem is that if traffic lights are strung up high, one has to peek to see them well. They do give out some good shade though that does overcome the negative parts.

Chuck

I agree with the Lund visor. It's really nice, but you do have to lean forward to see traffic lighs. The other problem is that at higher speed (75+) the drivers side wiper sometimes gets stuck on the underside of the visor. It's not a problem, though, as long as you go slower in rain, like most normal people :) As for other parts, I've never seen anything other than what Acme sells, and that's a pretty slim selection :( I've only seen things like tailgates, running boards, and the Lund visors. My truck came with chrome vent-visors, don't ask me the make, and they not only look good, but they work rather well.

Yeah, hardly anybody makes doo-dads for our trucks anymore. I do have some running boards, but I didn't like the look(my grandpa had em on there) so I took them off. I'd sell them, but can't really ship them big suckers.
