I wanted to announce the 2nd Annual First Gen Gathering in Lenox, Iowa. For those that have were not in attendance last year, it is sort of like SOP, except further west. Last year we had a decent turn out, but hoping for more guys and trucks to show up. The weekend of June 11 and 12, 2011. Feel free to roll in Friday night and set up camp, and stay until Sunday morning. Do not worry about the weather, no matter if its going to rain or be hotter then the hubs of hell, our new shop is up and functional. With the shop area of 70'x85' there will be plenty of room to stay out of bad weather. Like last year, camping is available in my front yard, and there is plenty of parking. There is a bathroom in the shop, and plenty of parking.

There is a two post hoist for anyone wanting to do a little work, and a crane for those heavy parts that may need to be moved.

So, now its official, start making plans, saving money, and hope to see you there.

At this point, it's still too far out for me to plan, especially since I will be making trip to Colorado in late May for undetermined stay at my brothers, but will see if it will work out.

Thats cool, I'm not looking for a head count or commitments at this time, just wanting to put it out the date of the event, so plans can be made.

C'mon Robert, I'm going! Just jump in the truck and go for a ride! ;)

We had over 15 1st gens at SOP last fall.

If you start now Robert, you should have all the necessary paperwork done so that you can leave and return to Canada..... I hear its pretty hard to get back in once you escape!!

I'll have to do some digging, but I think we had 8 or 9 not counting my two. Plus I added another since last year so its even better. I hope that I can get to SOP again sometime. Its just hard to leave during harvest.

Michael

I know I don't post here much anymore, but I wanted to bring this back to the top and open up the invitation again. Its two weeks from tomorrow. I'd like to get a head count of who is coming. As always, camping is welcome, the yard should be in pretty good shape. Also, if you bring something soft to sleep on, the shop is quite roomy, and weathertight. Motel reccommendations are as follows.

#1 Super 8 804 West Taylor Street, Creston

(641) 782-6541

DP stayed there last year, price is probably about the best

#2 Supertel Inn 800 Laurel Street, Creston

(641) 782-7873

#3 and Last resort Holiday Motel 800 South Walnut Street, Creston

(641) 782-1644

For anyone interested, there is a matching set of 3. 07 Dually 4x4 diffs that are up for Sale. They have been at my dad's place for a few years now, James McPherson(1stgen4evr) is the owner and is interested in selling them. I do have an ok hood and complete doors that could be taken home too. I do have plenty of tools to load/unload heavy truck parts or whatever, so if you are transporting stuff and meeting, its no problem. I have a Getrag that will be ready to take a part, and I promised Pete to have a bearing set here just in case.....
