Just finished testing on the PDR cam and would like to share my results as many of you have asked what are the results and how can we get one for our selfs.
We changed cams 3 times trying to find the right combo and believe we have found it. The results are faster spool up with boost coming on almost instantly. Egt drops of 50* at idle, which helps shut down time and 100* drop at 60mph and 75* drop at 100mph holding steady.
I also noticed it took the engine 3 sec longer to reach 1500* when pushing it at wot.
Fuel mileage also improved slightly with . 4mpg around city and . 9mpg highway driving.
I have pulled on long trips as far as the Alaska Hwy and am very happy with the PDR cam. I can't give you a proper comparison of mpg while towing as the weight changes every trip and amount of 4X4ing changes every time. I can say seat of the pants get up and go for hills and passing improved and egt's were down 100*.
Our 1st gen engines need all the help they can get with our small turbo's and poor flowing heads so I can recommend the PDR cam to all.
I would like to point out all testing for numbers and towing were done with the stock H1C turbo that comes from the factory on our 1st gens. I have run a modified PDR HX35 also on the road and track and can say it helps even more. It was hard to take the HX35 off for more testing but one has to do what one has to do.
