Is it just me or can you guy`s spot a 1st gen in a parking lot from a mile away? #ad
> I went to the hospital last evening for my overnight stay with my son (he came home today thank goodness and is doing MUCH better), pull into the lot and the first thing I spot are the gracefull dynamically powerfull lines of the a 1st gen cab. Needless to say guess where I parked? #ad
. Turned out to be a 91. 5 & up std cab CTD 4x4. Nice looking ride, had some 97&up chrome steel rims, truck was Maroon/Grey 2 tone. My sons room was on the 11th floor and I have a good view of the lot from his window. I happened to see the guy leaving but being stuck on the 11th floor i was`nt able to talk to him, but i did catch him giving my ride the once over, gotta love the "CTD Community" #ad
. FWIW this was at Stonybrook University hospital on Long Island (if the owner of the truck is on this board).

I know exactly what your talking about. I took a different route home yesterday and a early 90s dodge behind some standing up plywood and haybales at the back of someones property caught my eye. As I am always looking out for that rare find for an engine. It turned out to be a gasser but the look is th same.

Spooky ain't it... . :D... . parking lots, stop lights, passing traffic and this list goes on.

One thing that I have also noticed is that there are far more of them out there now than just a couple years ago.

Gotta luv it.....

pb... .

Chris,

Glad to hear that your son is better.

Not only do I notice them in stopped situations, but I spot them from a good way off when I'm on the Interstate. I have almost lost my arm to frostbite by rolling down the window to wave in mid-winter. Most of the time they wave back or are at least looking over at my truck (or are they just wondering if I should be committed to an asylum?)

That's such a beautiful way to describe a brick!!! :-laf

They always make my head turn.

I have tried the wave/smile thing and all I ever git is some dirty look. 'Parently the folks 'round here don't give two hoots in the South Land about what truck they drive. Probably ticked off cuz ... . "Grand-dad gave this to Dad and HE didn't like it so I GOT IT" mentality.

Jilted in Ohio.

Dear Jilted in Ohio,

Down here, in the Old Dominion, we still believe in being friendly and waving to other drivers.

And you don't wave back, we'll turn around and run you off the road!! :-laf

Spotted One!

I spotted an absolute cherry first gen one ton dually Monday, met it on a four lane with windows covered with for sale signs. I waved and he waved back, it is a Texas thing you know, must have been an amputee though, waved back with only one finger! I turned around and gave chase, but never caught him. They are very rare down in this end of the country, I have my spotters keeping an eye out for me.

my wife suprised me the other day. we're drivin down the highway at about 60mph and she starts "go back, go back there's a truck like ours back there " turned out to be a 86-89 gasser but man do i love that woman :)

My daughter that is 15 years old points them out to me from time to time.

My favorite tho was when I brought home the '89... ...

She said ewwwww it's ugly... ... . but at least it's a Cummins Daddy.

:D :D :D :D

:-laf :-laf :-laf My wife and I were coming home from work the other day (separate vehicles), but we were probably within 5-10 min of each other on the highway when my cell rings. She called to make sure I wouldn't miss the truck like ours pulling the big horse trailer Oo. ... she' so funny :-laf

Unfortunately here in the uptight northeast, that wave usually comes inthe form of a one finger salute to another's apparentl lack of consideration/judgement. :-laf :-laf

But I must admit, that when I first saw the title of this thread, "First gen spotting" I thought it would be about oil spots on the driveway. :-laf :-laf

I find myself looking at all first gens sitting around to see if they are a CTD. I miss my 1st gen. I look at these first gens putting around puffing a little smoke and all I can think is it can smoke better than that give me 5 minutes under the hood ;) . There's just not enough tinkering you can do with a 3rd gen. :(

My son (15) reports of nice 1st gens he spots. He told me yesterday of a red strait piped 1st while on the bus. He said it had a TDR sticker in the window. Thats rare in these parts. Modesto CA. If your reading this, give me a shout.

I saw a fair red/black W350 dually flatbed in the parking lot of the Modesto Pick-N-Pull a few weeks back. It was parked a few spaces away from mine when I came out.
