Driveway alarm? How's that work!? Don't think we have those here.

Cookies! Best payment method ever! Specially if they are still warm. :D

Oh, yeah, still warm. And soft..... mmmmmmmm. I left two for Dad... ... . the alarm is a magnetic function. The cows won't set it off like all the other ones she's had..... She's a paranoid old woman. She's getting hard of hearing so she wants to have a rifle ready in case anyone drives up. Yes, she's known to shoot at people. The driveway alarm actually helps prevent accidental shootings..... the UPS man knows to honk more than once. FedEx..... let's just say they've got a habit of leaving it at the gate.....

cord of wood on 1 3500# axle??

:D Well, it would appear, Bschwarzli doesn't haul much wood..... I've got a 6,000lb that should work for a good replacement, or another 3500 to add to it. If figured he'd give me crap about that, too... ... I've never seen a "perfect" anything... ... Of course, I have to be careful... . I'm about to go over my $300 budget. :-laf I gave $150 for two of these trailers, which had 6 jacks on 'em altogether, but I had to buy the tubing..... I figured I'd put some 4x4" wire panels up on the sides..... I don't split much of my wood, as the stoves I have will take up to 24Lx12"w..... designed for coal, they're pretty nice units. I can make a good loading last 5-6hrs, depending on what type of wood you use..... and still give off enough heat to actually warm the house... ...

I've been researching those "Russian" stoves... those seem like they would really work good in a house or shop, too..... GHarm sent me a link to those.....

No. I would not do that. I do know what wood weight. I heat with wood in the winter and we all know what Canadian winters are like.

In this case, you did not give me enough info to whine about. Maybe you are only going across the property. and going less than a mile. Maybe it is balsa wood. I don't know. You guys have funny trees down there. Up here we use maple and oak. Heavy. :D

OH, of course you wouldn't..... :D

I like oak, prefer it, really, as I really like the way it smells. I've got plenty of that, but I've got a heck of a lot more mequite than anything else. I can cut a couple cords and never get off the road. Any road. In fact, we loaded several semi trucks year before last where we cleared the trees out of a fenceline. I just drove my truck down the gravel road. We cleared almost two miles of fenceline, had it cut up and set up to dry, and when I got it sold, we just drove pile to pile loading it. We loaded a 53' step deck in 3-4 hours, pretty heavy, too. I ran out of straps and had to steal some off my Transcraft to get it all tied down. Really made me think about bundling it with steel bands so I could load it with a skidsteer or tractor... ... at the moment, I've been using the chemical tote cages. Cut the top off the plastic liner, throw the wood in, take the valve off the bottom, and load 'em two wide on a trailer. Snakes and all..... I've had a bunch of people undercutting me on the wood, lately, so I haven't sold much lately. I lost my sale with the big BBQ place in Lubbock, so I've about decided to not do it anymore..... I can't pencil it to where it's worth my time, anymore... . not to mention the two hands who can't mix 2cycle oil.....

... If they'd teach that in driver's ed, people would pay a lot more attention, and actually know how to drive when it rains... ...
PLEASE NO.
There are a lot of people who shouldn't be driving AT ALL.
Tell them it's okay to drift, and I'm going to have to put away my two wheelers, and start driving a hummer! #@$%!

Or any 70's Buick!

..... yeah, the insurance company said they wouldn't insure my '93 with the angle blade attached..... It works well on the D4... .....

Yeah... . drifting in my '96 was always a challenge... . had to watch out for small bridges and telephone poles... . It's hard to make a 155" wheelbase go sideways through a small tunnel... ... not exactly "nimble"... .

Tell me about it!
06 Mega Cab. If I go full sideways, it's longer than two lanes are wide!
That tends to scare soccer moms in mini vans.
It is good for tailgaters though. :D

Augh!! I know!! Inevitably, if I got my '96 sideways in town, my phone would ring 10 minutes later, with someone asking me if I was in town..... usually started out something like this... ...

Hello?

Hey, bud, you in town today?

Ummmm, yeah Dave, wassup?

Oh, nothing, but we just got a complaint about a reckless driver over off Locust and 6th... . driving a white Dodge pickup that smoked a lot...

Uhhhh, uh oh. Sorry, man, I was just jacking with a dude in a Mustang.

HA HA HA, yah, I'm sure. Slow it down, would you?

You bet, sorry I caused you a problem... .

Nah, don't worry about it, just don't hit a church!!

Oh, that's wrong!! So, how's Jen?

She's good, what're you doing for lunch?

You get the idea... ... . :D Thank goodness cops like to drive diesels, too!!! :-laf

The good thing about the long wheel base is once it goes, it doesn't go horrendously fast and all you have to do to straighten it out is let of of the throttle.

Let off the throttle? What fun is that!? :D
Yeahhhhh, slightly more fun than driving through a church..... I almost missed it..... I made it through the carwash ok, but got a small pine tree and about 2" of the building..... shoulda lifted... . but the Pontiac was still SOOOOO close!?!?!?

Hello, seems to be a party here. Yeah! I love drifting too. Many of those on my snowmobile while going 100 mph. I miss those days as we barely have snow nowadays. Will have to learn to drift the big goat instead.

Bschwarzli: Why thank you! But likely won't do drifting on public roads as it gives diesel owners a bad rap, especially the soot getting on someone that's trying to cook a nice steak on the BBQ.

Bschwarzli: That's funny! I turned your dd black last summer on our Cummins Trip. Plenty of flavourful smell there.
