I am a Second Generation guy and need to ask a turbo interchange question. A kid down my street has a First Gen Dually that needs a turbo. I have my HY 35 off of my '01. 5 Automatic and would like to know if my turbo will fit. He has the HY35W on his. I forgot to look if his is intercooled but I believe he has a '91.

If his is non intercooled, plumbing it will be a beatch, but is doable, look in my readers rigs, gallery or some such like topic. If his is intercooled, it is a direct bolt on, save shortening the downpipe an inch to accomodate the wastegate. THe STOCK turob for all 1st Gens is a NWG H1C, with either a 18 or 21cm exhaust housing, depending on year and CPL. I'm not sure if the HY will be much of an upgrade from a H1C, but if his is on the downhill slide, it may be better than what he has now.

Mid 1991. They are called 91. 5, came with differnt head,injectors, intercooler,exhaust housing, and OD automatic transmissions. Did I miss anything else guys? Early 91 are non intercooled, 3 spd autos, and have a different(smaller?) exhaust housing.

They also had different delivery valves, injector lines (shape and diameter- older are bigger) throttle brackets, power steering/ vacuum pumps, radiators, volt regulators, the list goes on. Had I known what a PITA the nonIC trucks could be, and that I wouldnt haul much more hay, I'd have kept my 3/4T, but it had its share of problems, too.

CPL 804: 9mm injector tips, 4 holes; 3" turbo inlet; H1C-18 no heat shield on down pipe; 78mm/ stroke @1. 4mm lift.

CPL 1351: 7mm tips, 6 holes; 4" turbo inlet; H1C-21; heat shield; 74mm/ stroke @ 1. 25mm lift.

I have a turbo off my 89 that when I took it off was in perfect shape, put a modified one by PDR on and changed housing, would let it go cheap
