my ole '93 got the best mileage of any dodge I ever owned, 20 mpg with a mix of city and highway, 18. 5 doing the same thing on winter blended fuel. I could hit 23 mpg on a run down to bloomfield NM.

I am wondering about the guys who had their 1st gens long enough to know, how much less mileage are you seeing since ULSD came out??

you guys who still run these trucks don't be lurred by the new models, I have since owned an '02 and now an '06 nothing ran quite like that ole '93, a bump of the starter is all it took to fire up, pull your house down off idle torque, the motor always sounded exactly the same, no funky electronics, in many ways I kinda miss that old truck

I can't say for sure, as my driving has changed significantly from when I checked it a lot to now. I could consistantly get 18-19 out of mine on the old fuel, and got as high as 24(average) on a trip to Arizona. I've been getting 15-16 lately, but I'm short tripping on gravel roads, and more idle time. I've not been on a trip with it empty for a while. I did get 15 mpg pulling a car trailer 75 mph to southern Missouri and back on winter fuel. Can't complain about that.

I'm planning a lift pump upgrade, and maybe a little more tuning. I hope to be getting back to the 20's again. Even after 250,000 miles, and 16 years, it still starts like new, and pulls as hard today as it did when dad brought it home. The limited slip doesn't work as well as it did when I was in high school, and the power windows are slower:-laf, but it still puts a smile on my face when it rattles to life in the morning. ;)

I haven't checked in a long time, but with my new tires I know that it probably took a dump along with the performance. Empty I think that I could still squeeze 500 miles out of a tank.

So, in summary based on our collective experiences with mileage using USLD:

Some get better, some get worse, some get the same.

Another one of those things that makes you say "Hmmmmm... "
