Throwing away good oil which a natural resource to the world is my issue. It is like the guy that came up with 6 months came for Quick Lube! They have gotten their heads together on how many miles one can run oil, and then turn around and waste it for low mile drivers based on the 6 months "make work for dealers" side.

Snoking

Are you going to change your oil at 6 month intervals while your warranty is in effect Snoking?

I changed mine on 5/9/16 and now have 11K on the oil. By 11/9/16 (6mo) I will have around 13-14K on the oil. I will probably wait till 15K and do another Blackstone report.

Even if you change from the top, the filter is simple to loosen thru the wheel well with a socket. You can use a 4' cheater if you want. See video's below.

With Ziplock Bag

Lets not confuse the ones that insist going thru the top is easier :-laf:-laf

I have done it thru the top, and thru the bottom, no more of that taking the turbo hose off. Capping the filter or even the ziplock way IMO is easier .

Thanks for the video, may change some minds, but heck, to each his own.

Per the manual on the fuel filter change :" Mileage or time passed WHICHEVER comes first ", and that is 15k or ONE year.
Is that the same for 2015 trucks too? I cannot recall reading a time frame anywhere for the fuel filters in my manual. I cannot fathom what could possibly go bad over time (and lack of mileage) with a fuel filter...

I found it easier to just take the right wheel off and loosen the filter then slip a big ziploc baggie over it . Zip it up and work it out of the hole. No mess ,at least not this time. I tightened my engine fuel filter to spec last time i changed it and it was still a bear to get off. the baggie idea is not mine someone on this site came up with it and it works well.

Why don't you just pull a little oil out and have an analysis . if all the tests such as TBN and wear test come back showing you can run it for another 6 months , then why waste it ? I for one don't understand how a modern formulated oil can go to hell in six months with such low usage. I will pay for your oil analysis if it comes back negative with that kind of mileage.

I think the 2015 is the same as the 2014. My manual specifically states one year or 15K.

I agree on the mileage thing, but also I follow the manual, don't want to have to argue or get denied warranty on a fuel related issue, same with oil.

No argument about oil breakdown in that short of period, unless the miles are there also. I am no where near 15K in six months, but I change every six months "ACCORDING" to the "MANUAL"

One person on here went as far as stating that he was told by someone at Ram:rolleyes: that as long as you had an oil analysis you were okay to go beyond the recommended intervals on the oil changes. Seriously , I would sure like to see that in writing, I do see in writing what they tell us is supposed to be done.

Again to each his own. For me its just as easy to just change the oil as it is to mess with oil analysis.

Yup, you are 100% right. The maintenance schedule indicates 15K miles or 12 months for fuel filter. That is ridiculous...

It is ridiculous. What makes no sense is running expensive synthetics , at least to me. Have run plain old Rotella 15-40 in my diesel trucks for nearly 19 years.
Have no plans to change .

I don't mind changing my oil twice a year.....whether the oil needs it or not. It's a "feel good" thing since I know new oil is better than old oil....I don't lose any sleep over it.

I second this.... as long as my 7 year extended warranty is in effect.
