Good afternoon all,
It has taken me some time to decide about entering my first post but here goes.
My Ram is a '96 automatic with bone stock engine internals, (at this point). However, (there is always a however with a Ram) I have made a number of modifications and additions. My most significant ones are to the transmission. I have followed post for a long time regarding TC/VB changes and decided to go with DTT. After speaking with Bill, Stephan and Vinney (sp) by phone several time I beleived I would be making the right choice. Since I just got back from two extended trips I am certain of this. From Bill I purchased a TC and VB as well as his Smart Control. When I had the transmission out I had a major seal kit installed by the local DC dealer. The seal kit was at Bill's reccommendation. The job went great and while I had the trans out I did the rubber fuel line job as well as made a set of trans cooling lines with hydraulic hoses and fittings.
As mentioned above I have made two trips. One from Mass. to Fla. putting on about 4,000 miles and the second thru the White Mountains with another 800 miles. The first trip was with a Lance truck camper, total wt. at 10,620 lbs. the second trip with a 34' Terry 5vr. In all these miles I never saw more than 165 degrees of trans temp. while going over the road. Once in traffic in Fla. in July it did get close to 200 but not over. Thru mountains and flats the EGT never went over 825 post turbo. Mileage with the Lance was 15. 1 and with the 5vr was right at 12. 4.
The usable power difference of before and after was quite noticable to me but the shifts were the really big difference. Firm, solid, fast and NO slippage.
Bill Kondalay has furnished me with great products. It took me a while to get the Smart Control set right but Bill and staff were top notch in helping me get thru this. A big "THANKS" to them. I know this is a fairly long post but I wanted to give praise to Bill and his staff for their products.
