1st shift 1st to 2nd

Frist time posting, any hints are welcome. the questions is: every time after I shut off the truck it does not want to shift from 1st to 2nd until it wants to. this is worst when it's a bit cooler. to pull out into traffic and floor it, well you'll see redline before 2nd and then it's pull over, shut off, restart and let it do its thing. After the frist shift (1st - 2nd) it's ok until the next start up. By the way it's an auto. with only 76k orig. mi. ????????????????

I would guess its your govener pressure silenoid in your valve body! -at least thats what took care of my prob when mine did it. Will cost you bout $84 and just have to drop your transmission pan and its right there, not difficult at all and its a good time to adjust your band and change your fluid while your at it
 
Thanks. i thought maybe it could be a ground problem from some of the other threads I read. well 1st trans, then lift pump with fuel pressure gages before bigger mods.
 
sounds like your going to do it right as long as you stick to it. it is very tempting to loose tract and start adding power before the necessary work is done to hold up to the power. i know from expieriance!!! stick to your plan and welcome to tdr. i am pretty new myself and really enjoy it. solved two of my problems with in the first month of being a member! very helpful. .



sorry, no suggestions on the trans problem, besides drop it out and build it strong :)
