Just got back from short camping trip up on the NC BlueRidge Parkway. Drove up Hwy. 226 out of Marion which is 4-5 miles of the most crooked road I care to traverse. It is real obvious that Dodge has made some improvements in the 48re. I will be adding an exhaust brake. The transmission does downshift to provide a little braking when you are on a descent. The Tow/haul/OD lockout works very good. I am impressed at the way it changed gears towing this load.
I weighed the rig at Marion fully fueled up and with RV maybe 50% loaded with the good stuff like food and drink and the total weight was 22,680 pounds. This truck can handle a bunch more... . For a year now I have been telling myself I needed a 4500/5500. No way... I think a 6 speed auto transmission might be the only reason I would ever need to trade. After driving my 2004. 5 with the TST. . I do think I need a little more HP.
The AirRide hitch is also a great option.
