Installed the pillar mount from DIS & really had to butcher the factory pillar to clear the tweeter. It will not simply mount over the stock pillar. We practically had to cut all of the tweeter housing out to get the mount to fit. Also had to trim the gauge holes out some as we could not get the gauges in. Oh well, nothing like butchering a $40,000 truck, kind of gives you a sick feeling.

Don`t worry Hacksaw. At trade in time, a simple trip to the Dodge dealer and $40 bananas for a new A-Pillar. Good as new.

I know how your felt though.

I butchered my pillar too. Full of holes.

I took me most of a Saturday to install a 3 gauge full pillar.

Trying to snake a 7/8" fitting (water temp gauge thermocouple) down thru the corner of the dash can get frustrating.

Hacksaw, I got mine the other day & tonight, like you ,i had my hand grinder cutting up my stock pillar. I'm done for the nite and i'll work on it again tomorrow.
(MORE CUTTING)Mines from Auto Meter , and step 2 saids, and i quote " Slight modifications (trimming)of the A-pillar cover may be required for a perfect fit in some applications. "Need i say any more!Keep us posted and i'll do the same.

CAM, mine was Auto Meter also & there is a lot more than slight modification to do. It will not even come close to fitting. Why did they not just make a replacement pillar for the price they charge, is my question.

I agree 100% Hacksaw. A replacement pillar that could be just snapped in place of the OE pillar would be so much easier!

No butchering and done in a 1/3 of the time.

Guys, Once those "X-mas tree" rivets are pushed in to hold the gauge pillar in place, THEY DO NOT WANT TO COME OUT. You will destroy the rivets trying. I came close to breaking the gauge mount seperating it from the OE pillar. I called autometer and they sent me new ones N/C. I looked everywhere localy for them. Couldn`t find anything close.

Don`t push them in until you are sure it does not need to come apart again.

I just purchased a '98 Agate, NON-tweeter A-pillar cover from Dodge for just over $30. The Gauge Works triple WITH tweeter, FULL pillar cover fits very well to the OE replacement. Now I can save my OE A-pillar cover (with Gauge Works dual pod mount installed... to sell with the vehicle or?). This will also reduce the modifications required to facilitate the installation of the double or triple FULL A-pillar cover WITH tweeter. Just another installation option guys. #ad

BTW, the OE A-pillar cover WITH tweeter lists for over $100. (more like $150. if memory serves) #ad

<font color=blue>There is a replacement pillar w/tweeter in the works. Rob Spading has the prototype. The more I read about all these problems the more I appriciate my triple gauge dash pod.

Here's the scoop Kat; many of us have been on this BB for a long time... . there have been previous attempts at having a full pillar replacement made by at least several different individuals, namely, Rob Spading (at least a YEAR ago) as well as Craig Scholl (on the old CDW website... before that). In fact, Craig had the molds already completed and waited FOREVER to obtain the required plastic from the vendor. The last I heard he finally gave up. This was well over a year and a half ago. I had my gauge installation on hold for AT LEAST six months waiting for Craig to procure the plastic to fabricate the pillars. Finally I gave up, electing to purchase a Gauge Works dual pod setup. So, as you can see, I'm taking any future replacement A-pillar ventures with a grain of salt until they actually materialize! The way I'm looking at this is... the next generation of Rams will be out before these proposed products are released. #ad

Hell, I can't even get SPA to make me a digital FuelPressure/Fuel Pressure gauge! Even if I pay extra! And 1/2 of this gauge ALREADY exists! BTW, they have already had over a dozen requests for this! This sure ain't Burger King! Have it your way my a$$!

<font color=blue>Yes I know of the previous attempts at it. Just wanted to point out that Rob does have the prototype in hand and has sent it back for some minor corrections. Besides even if the replacement pillar was out there I would still have my trusty dash pod up next to the window between the defrost vents. Much better place in my opinion. Just a shame y'all are having all this trouble is all... .

And yes I would be interested in a dual fuel pressure gauge, but they don't make one. I was going to mount it in the ashtray so I could close the ashtray to "Hide" it and then open it when I wanted to look at it ( I am not a fan of digital LCD displays).

KatDiesel,

Where does a guy get a dash pod? I've got my guages under the dash right now, not the best place in the world.
