Can the 2 Gen ISB's be converted to the common rail technology? If so what is involved to replace the VP 44:p ?

Stupid question???

I guess that the question is useless and everyone has concluded that it cannot be done. I was interested based on the VP44 problems and thought it might be an inexpensive solution in the long run. :D

I believe someone esle has already asked this question before, but I can't remember what the conclusion was. It probably would be easier to convert to a P7100 like he said above

I'm sure that I will get some that disagree, but I really haven't accepted the fact that the VP44 in itself is problematic. Though I'm sure that some have taken a premature dump, as any complicated assembly might be expected to, I think that a lot of the problems associated with them can be attributed solely to the lift pump. I think that if you monitor the lift pump pressure, you will get quite good reliability out of the VP44. Just my opinion. :)

I have to agree with you on that. If you figure all the trucks that are running the VP44 pumps, the failure rate really isn't that high. They are few and minor when compared to issues that other makes are having. I must say though, I don't think it will ever be as reliable as the mechanical pumps.
