thinking of installing a 2" leveling kit on my mega. the kit i found has a 2" spacer made out of steel that sit ontop of coil spring and bolts to the shock tower. i want to rum 35x12. 50x17 toyo opencountry mt tires on walker evans 17x8. 5 wheels. now my question is what backspacing should i use for this setup? i have read about the death wobble but do not think it will effect me, because of a good quality tire and wheel combo, also i will have it aligned after the install. what about shock length? will they top out with the leveling kit. should i extend the shocks 2"? i just being cheep for the moment and want a high quality lift upgrade soon but cant wait for the looks.

With all due respect, I'd reconsider this move. Sometimes you can't "afford" to be cheap, and suspension is one of those times, especially on a truck known for death wobble issues. Although 2" spacers will work just fine, you'll want to upgrade the shocks to prevent them bottoming (or topping) out.

I think there's a few other changes I think you should make too, but 99. 9% of people disagree with me for a 2" leveling kit, so I'll leave things at this: don't be "cheap" about it just because you want the "looks". If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right... right?

I have had my 2 inch leveling kit for over a year now with 35's and not one issue, over 25 k miles with this setup and still love it, gOOd luck... .

I'd be one that would disagree. 2" leveling with the stock shocks will be fine. They won't bottom out. If you go over 2" with out replacing the shocks then you'll have problems. But 2", you'll be fine.

I had to install new shocks when I added my 2' Daystars. The death wobble was horrible. I have had my lift for about a year and a half and love it. No more rubbing on the CA's. Good luck and post some pics when you do install the stuff.

Is everyone with death wobble correcting the swaybar. I see that kore's leveling kit moves the swaybar down to the correct geometery. Longer swaybar links would also do the same job.

2" Leveling kit

I have a 2" leveling kit on mine, I think it was Rough Coutry, simple piece of steel. I think I have a spring problem now. I saw my one light on my plow was lower than the other, at first thought it was just snow built up on the blade and weight was causing it. Today I cleaned the truck, and started looking. The final measurement I took was between the spring cups, sure enough there is a 1/4 inch difference between the two sides. So now I guess I'll have to start looking at replacing the susspension. Just seems very strange that it's exactly 1/4 off. Now since I have the 2" kit that measurement is between the bottom of that spacer. So that rules out the spacer and confines it to the spring only. I like the additional 2" and I don't need nor want 4" because I plow with the truck.

Thanks,

Ken

I had 2" spacers installed along with 8. 5 wheels and 35" BFGs the day I bought my truck. Added new shocks, but they were no longer than the OEM. Did an alignment and good to go. After 2 years and 30K miles, truck rides and handles great and I still have about 10-15 K left on the tires. You may want to consider fender flares if you run 35" tires. You will love the look. Enjoy the truck.
