I picked up a new to me 2000 Sport 2500 this past weekend and I am having lighting issues.

1st. ) The truck has the sport pkg and has factory fogs. I have done searches here but can’t find similar cases. The fog light indicator comes on when you pull the switch but the fog lights don’t come on at all. I have checked the fuse = ok. I can hear the relay clicking, and have swapped out with other relays and still not working. I had access to another headlight switch swapped out and still nothing. . I checked for power at the bulbs w/ my meter and, obviously nothing.

What am I missing?

2nd. ) highbeam indicator in dash not working? I pulled the dash and found that the previous owner removed the bulb. I replaced the bulb and it doesn’t work. ??? The highbeams themselves do work. It’s just the indicator. .

Thanks in advance, Tom

Can these 2 be related and where do I go next. . ???

The fog lamps on your model year 2000 Ram use switched ground. +12 volts should always be present at the bulb sockets (the red/orange wire). If not, it's either fuse G (15 a. ) in the PDC or a broken/loose wire. Try swapping with another 15 a. fuse.

The relay is only used as an interlock - it prevents fog lamps from being used with high beams. Many of us have performed the fogs-on-with-high beams modification shown at the bottom of this page at the great Dave Fritz site. http://dodgeram.org/tech/mods/electric/headlight.htm

Try the fuse swap and the jumper. If that does not cure things and the bulbs are okay, your problem is likely the switch or wiring. If you feel comfortable doing it, shorting the fog lamp relay socket terminal 30 (relay removed) to ground bypasses the foglamp portion of the headlight switch and should cause the fog lamps to light.
