Who out there has the best 2 lo lockout setup, Bob v. or Emjay ? Need something to help when backing the really big boats, & for use with these same big boats at the ramp. Was use to my old ferd diesel with manual hubs, could drop into lo-range & not lock hubs & did`nt have to worry about jerking the trailer out from under the boats . Don`t like to use 4 wheel drive in lo-range on concrete or paved ramps due to the amount of torque involved and the binding of the drivetrain. Any feedback from people that have either of these systems or others in use would be greatly appreciated. TIA :)

I love mine and use it a lot. I bought a pneumatic lift gate switch from a place that does truck body conversions for about $25 if I remember right.

Simple install. One vaccuum line (source that used to go to the transfer case) to the switch, then a line from each side of the switch to each side of the axle shift unit. (then yank out all the crap between the 2 :D )

Another plus is that it vents in the cab. Won't ever suck up water AND SOUNDS REALLY COOL.

Without a doubt, BOB V's kit . It addresses the issue of holding the central axle disconnect in the disengage position, or the engage position. Most kits use a electric solenoid to just interrupt the engage line, this set-up isn't very good. Bob's set-up uses no electric (nothing really to go wrong), and it correctly by passes the central axle disconnect. Very easy to install, and bob is wonderful to work with.

Where do we find Bob V. get one of these from?

Thanks

The switch I bought is a machined push-pull valve with 5 ports. Two are vents, one is supply vaccuum , (or air) and the other two are the switched circuits. When one side is supplied with vaccuum, the other side is vented. Mine holds in either position-- Engaged or disengaged.

I'm not really in favor of the vaccuum "interupt" type of switches, valves, solenoids, etc.

Bighammer sounds like you already had in mind what you were looking for to get the job done. I don`t know where to look or what to ask for in my area that`s why I was asking about these kits. Your set-up sounds great and obviously works. Y-knot & Thomas I appreciate your thoughts as well & have already e-mailed Bob V and gotten a response back with the kits he offers and the prices. I will most likely buy Bob V`s kit since you guys say it is an easy install and trouble-free. Thanks to all :)

I'm cheap. :D I knew what I wanted and the local auto parts shop directed me to where I could find such a switching valve.

Bob V's

I'll vouch for Bob's kit. The instructions are good. I've had it in for a year and a half, works flawlessly. It's really nice to be able to go slooooow without riding the clutch.

Bighammer, it sounds like you have done a kit similar to my basic kit. The only difference is I have set it up so that if the valve is activated while the transfer case is in 2WD the CAD will NOT engage. I don't know if you have tried this yet, if you do make sure you are going slow. I also include all the fittings (push to connect) and tubing and breather vents. I have thought about just putting the instructions out and what parts are needed to do this. I have found that it would not save the average person much to get there own parts than buy my kit because I am able to get a good price on the fittings, retail is about $5. 00 each. Like most things, there are many different ways to solve a problem, sounds like you have a system that works for you. I know I had lots of people that where worried if someone accidentally "pulled the knob" when they weren't suppose to.

I put the switch sort of behind the transfer case shifter in the cover that says SRS on it. I think it's unlikely that it would get pulled when it shouldn't.

The fittings were for fuel I think. I had 2 straight and bought one 90* for a couple bucks. I also had a bag of cheap vac hose that was just enough length.
