Anyone used the 2 Low kit from Piers Diesel? Looks like a nice clutch saver for backing up those big 5er's and other heavy trailers. Anyone have pics on what it looks like or how you like it?

Thanks in advance

I've got one on my truck, and it works as advertiesed. It helps a bunch with my semi-grabby clutch. It's a box about the size of a computer mouse, and it has four hose barbs for the vacuum lines and a couple of wires (electrically switched). The suggested mounting place is on one of the bolts on the intake horn at the heater grid. Pretty much plugs right in. The hard part was running the wiring into the cab (which isn't hard). I didn't use their switch, which was a bit too ugly for me. I ended up using a button-type rocker with a lighted "on" position, and mounted it down in the plastic by the xfer case shifter. Tapped into the key-on power lead by the steering column. Quick, easy, works.

I'd get you a picture, but that part of my engine isn't currently in place!

Got one, works great and it's easy to install. The only thing I would be careful with is applying too much pedal when backing heavy trailers up a steep hill. Could be too much torque for the transfer case to handle since it normally splits the power between the front and rear axle. I say this because I used mine in the exact same scenario and I broke my transfer case. I think the transfer case was designed without the 2 low for this reason. When I have a real heavy load to back up my hill I just put it in 4whl low. I've never had a problem with axle bind in 4 low. The 2 low kit really works great manuevering your trailer in tight spots, but other than that it just makes a great stocking stuffer for the guy who has everything. Good luck, ... ... Jim
