Could some one post some picture of how they installed there 2-micron filter? I want to install one in between the stock filter and cp3 but am trying to see how to tap into the stock line in between the stock filter and cp3

It's not really a good picture but I just ditched all the banjo fittings including the whole stock filter housing and just put a spin on filter by my pump and that 2micron by the CP3. You can do it with the stock housing just as easy but I didn't need it anymore.

You have to get an adaptor fitting to convert the stock canister to accept an NPT or AN fitting. I think Glacier Diesel Power sells one, but I'm not sure.

I don't know if this will help, but here's a link to some discussion of what I did.

glacier has some -6 to M12 fittings. . vulcan has some -8 to m12 fittings. .

glacier sells a kit that adds the filter between stock and cp3 [filter, head, bracket, fittings & hoses]

Which port on the cp3 is the fuel inlet? And does the fuel com from the bottom of the stock fuel filter canister? I have all the plumbing parts I need (I think), I just need to get the 2-micron filter and the filter head ………does any one know what the thread size is on the fleetguard 2-micronfilter? Hear is a link to what I was going to order Add-On Fuel Filter Head

The outlet from the stock filter canister is on the bottom. If you trace that line, it'll lead you directly to the CP-3 inlet. It's the fitting right on the top side of the CP-3 when you're looking down at it from above.

Here's my set up.

You'll need a metric to NPT adpater to go from the stock filter to the flare fitting on the rubber fuel line. Same set up to the CP3. I got all my fittings from Glacier Diesel. The stock fuel pump isn't strong enough to push fuel thru a 2 micron filter. When I go back to the stock pump, I get 2-3 psi drop at idle and can easily pull it down to 0psi. The Walbro pump doesn't have any problem. Can't pull it below 15psi. There are my variations on this set up, but the Glacier system is a complete package. If I did it over again, I might just go with Richard's set up.

Good luck with you project. I think it is well worth the time and effort. Be sure to run a pressure gauge also.

does any one know what the thread size is on the fleetguard 2-micronfilter?

1"-14... the link shows the filter that fits that head as being the donaldson P550105. fleetguard version is ff105. same threads as the ff5320/ff5319 2µ filters [cat 1r0749/1r0750 work too, and are built better than the fleetguard imho]. . i don't know if that head comes with the gasket to seal the threaded section to the filter body. it isn't 100% necessary to have, but without it, it leaves a chance for unfiltered fuel to bypass the filter [and if it doesn't, a heavy o-ring will work]

If you want to install a Jake Exhaust break you will to use a bango fitting on the connecton to the injector pump. The elbow that Glacier provided with my kit is in the way of the Jake vacuum pump bracket. Glacier has the right parts in there kit for a Jake Exhaust break set up.

Hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving. The metal shop finally finished the bracket for my GDP 2 micron filter. I had it made out of ¼” stainless …man this thing will hold some weight. I had a hydraulic shop made the hoses since I was not impressed with the one that came with the kit. The guy that made the hose said it is guaranteed to hold 4,000 PSI…I don’t think it will leak. :-laf I also installed the Baldwin 5 micron in the stock filter housing.

here is my homemade setup. I used a Baldwin FB1311 filter base and brass fittings from hardware store. And a section of 5/16" fuel line hose to go from the rear (outlet side) of my filter base to the CP3. I simply used the stock line(hose) at the CP3 for the inlet (front side) of my new filter. I did this just in case I was ever stranded with a dirty 2 mic filter or a hose went bad or whatever I could simply re-install the factory hose back onto the CP3 and bypass my new filter completely.

That's a nice arrangement, ataboy, especially since you have the intake-horn mounted TPS. What's the filter head attached to?

You can upload the PDF from Glacier Diesels site that covers the install of their kit. I comes complete with pictures and also written instructions. All of that information will probably answer your questions. He also has technical articles that discuss the need for the 2-micron and what is being accomplished by his system.

I used a section of 3/16"x1" steel strap that I bent 90 degrees in my vise. Drilled holes for filter head and timing gear case, there are 2 holes cast into the gear case near the CP3 pump that are unused from the factory. I bolted it on and it works just fine. I can easily reach up from under truck to change filter. I did have to get 2- 7/8"-14 to 3/8" pipe adapters from MSC industrial supply to go from filter head to the brass hose barb fittings. I have less than $100 bucks in this setup.

A few more pic's. From under looking up, etc... You can also see a fuel pressure guage mounted on filter head, it is hard to read but it worked to plug a hole I tapped for a guage to be mounted inside cab in the future. I wanted it there for reading pressure after the 2 mic filter.

Here is my setup

I used the same filter head that GDP uses! This filter head uses the Fleetguard FF5320 2-micron filter. I like the compact size of the filter head and the fleetguard fuel filter is the same size as the oil filter. The tricky part was finding a location that I could mount the filter that was inside the engine bay. I don't like the idea of mounting the filter down on the frame rail for several reasons; chance of getting hit, longer fuel hoses needed for routing, not being able to keep fuel lines warm during the winter. So, I found an area that I think is ideal, a friend made a bracket for me that I had powdered coated and mounted under the brake master cylinder by the existing 2-bolts. I wasn't able to utilize the area under the apps as I have an auto trans and there isn't enough room. Besides my location works great and I can change the fuel filter by reaching my arm between the tire and wheel well liner without removing either. Works great for me, hope it helps someone out... .....

P. S. I am also using GDP big line kit, Walbro 392 fuel pump and fittings.

I like it! I may have to put mine there too!

I too thought about that location but it looked to me like I would have to tip the filter to get it out thus spilling some fuel onto frame, hoses, etc. With where I mounted mine it drops straight out from the bottom without tipping any and no fuel spillage. But I do like the filter head you have, it looks like you don't need the threadded adapter fittings that cost about 10-15 bucks. What brand and part number is it?

I like ataboy's setup, but I like jbonapua's even better. I ended up with mine on the frame rail pretty much under my butt. It makes me a little nervous down there, though I havent even dinged a filter, and you can readily see it so it's not ideal. I left the stock canister w/10mic filter, I figured why not keep the fuel heater and keep the big junk from clogging up the 2mic? I only look at the 2mic as an injector saver, I don't think the rest of the system needs it.
