I like ataboy's setup, but I like jbonapua's even better. I ended up with mine on the frame rail pretty much under my butt. It makes me a little nervous down there, though I havent even dinged a filter, and you can readily see it so it's not ideal. I left the stock canister w/10mic filter, I figured why not keep the fuel heater and keep the big junk from clogging up the 2mic? I only look at the 2mic as an injector saver, I don't think the rest of the system needs it.

Thanks RMalone, the machine shop that made my bracket made it too “bullet proof”. :D This thing weighs about 5-6lbs made out of ¼” stainless steel. It is very convenient to change the filter at this location. It is away from road debris.

I purchased a 2 1/2" oil filled gauge from Geno's and then bought a 90-degree fitting so the gauge would sit verticle on top of the fuel filter cap. Don't remember what I paid, its been a while! :D

A 2 micron should not go in between anything. You do not want to restrict oil flow. Serious engine damage will result. Tap in anywhere there will be pressure to supply the 2 micron and route the out flow to the engines oil pan. It will take 45 minutes to an hour traveling on the highway for all of the oil in the engine to pass through a 2 micron filter. I have a tee in my drain plug and let the oil flow back by gravity through a one inch hose. If your filter is mounted high enough say as high as the alternator it might look primitive but it works. Read all the posts on here and maybe you will see a better idea than what I did.

I am not the first to make a mistake and I won't be the last. Trying to be helpful is what this site is all about. Being helpful is not a mistake.

I used the same filter head that GDP uses! This filter head uses the Fleetguard FF5320 2-micron filter. I like the compact size of the filter head and the fleetguard fuel filter is the same size as the oil filter. The tricky part was finding a location that I could mount the filter that was inside the engine bay. I don't like the idea of mounting the filter down on the frame rail for several reasons; chance of getting hit, longer fuel hoses needed for routing, not being able to keep fuel lines warm during the winter. So, I found an area that I think is ideal, a friend made a bracket for me that I had powdered coated and mounted under the brake master cylinder by the existing 2-bolts. I wasn't able to utilize the area under the apps as I have an auto trans and there isn't enough room. Besides my location works great and I can change the fuel filter by reaching my arm between the tire and wheel well liner without removing either. Works great for me, hope it helps someone out... .....

P. S. I am also using GDP big line kit, Walbro 392 fuel pump and fittings.
oilrunner,

I like your filter mntng. brkt. and location, but comparing your brake mstr. cyl. to mine, I can't see how you mntd. the R. side(looking from front to back) of your brkt.

My mstr. cyl. is attached with 2 bolts angled at about at about eleven and five o'clock, and it looks yours might be horiz. across from each other, or did you make somthing to bolt to over there?

Your mntng. spot would be ideal for me as I have a large by-pass eng. oil fltr. mntd. on the frnt. of the int. manifold. So if I'm going mnt. it in the eng. compartment,(which is also important to me) I'm running out of options.

Unfortunately I don't have a truck like yours to look at, as that would answer some of my questions.

Any info. on my inst. would be much appreciated.

Thanks,Ray

RHestand,

Yeah my bolts are horizontal, Iam not sure exactly what your setup looks like, never seen inside the hood of an 06.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help... .....

Glacier Fuel Filter Instal

I removed the stock fuel filter canister and installed the Glacier Diesel Power manifold with a 20 micron fuel/water filter inline with a 2 micron fuel filter.
