A hello to everyone I'm a new member as of last week. A question I have for anyone is I have used rotella in the truck. here lately the last two oil changes the truck is 2-3 qts low still showing on the dipstick I do check the truck. I have 30k, miles on the truck 48re 2500 with a TST pwrmax I have gauges. I recently changed the oil and put in valv premium blue. 15/40w my EGT gauge towards the last 500-600 miles on the rotella would take for ever to drop to 350 deg, with AC off and driving home on 1/1 on the TST. I drive 18 miles to work. it has been extremely hot in Missouri where I am stationed does this have any reason. my oil filter didn't have any burnt oil drips from leaking out.

thanks maybe others have had the same issue.

That a lot of oil to have dissapear over the course of one change.

1. How many miles had that oil been in the truck?
2. How many miles between regular oil changes?

I assume that you haven't noticed spots in your drive, or other parking areas?

With 30k on the clock, I'd assume that it is well broken in. Mine burned a tad before it broke in, but not that much.

The oil I try to change out around 5000k at the most 6000k miles.

no there is never oil spotting when I park. my wife would notice this before I.

I change the fuel filter between 5-7k miles I recently changed front and rear.

its strange I put in three gallons and when I pour back the oil it was 2 qts short.

there are lots of places for lube oil to hide... the oil that is between the lube oil pump and the filter pad will not drain back, and that also contains the lube oil cooler so that could easially be 2 qt's worth.

Yes, the best time to check the oil is after parking overnight. You'll get an accurate reading.

My local dealer added 15 qts to my truck (last time they see it, ever) because he checked the oil without letting it sit for a while.

The refill is 3 gallons w/ a filter change. It will be perfect on the stick.

On edit:

Make sure the truck is HOT when you change the oil. It flows soo much better.

Well thanks for the input who knows the every oil change before I got back about 3 gals worth just not these last two times. I do check the stick weekly so I know its there.

didnt even think about the oil cooler lines. but it was 2 qts low after I drain the filter in oil pan. then put wast oil in containers. anyway I guess no big deal. thanks will keep posted using valv premium blue.
