Just so you guys know Texas Law now requires a muffler as of september 07. You used to be able to get away with the turbo as a muffler but not anymore. How do I know?I had to put a muffler on my 94 before I could get an Inspection sticker. It almost broke my heart:{,that truck was a five speed and sounded so good going up through the gears. I don't know what state the originator of this thread is from but it is something to think about

WEll it is done! I kept the resonator, but got rid of the muffler till I can get stacks... if I go with stacks? I am still not sure! if I just go 5 inch all the way out will it give me the same performance as running a shorter 4 inched to 6in stack?

You can get better performance from a bigger diameter turbo downpipe. If you lower the flow resistance(backpressure) at the turbo discharge, it will make the turbine spool faster.

Keep it simple...

OK, where do you get a 4 inch resonator back exhaust????

You will need:

4" to 3" reducer

4" muffler clamp

two 3" muffler clamps

measured section of 3" exhaust pipe

Measure:

from halfway between the resonator and stock muffler connection(4")

to

somewhere past the muffler (3") Pick some place flat you are comfortable cutting the exhaust. Leave enough room so you can put it(muffler) back on if you have to. Remember to correct for the length of the reducer!

Take that measurement to the local muffler shop and have them cut you a piece of 3" exhaust pipe that length. You may want to shop around a bit... I had one shop quote me $100 for a 6 footer and another quoted $20 for the same piece. Have them flare either 1 or both ends depending on how it fits into the 3" to 4" reducer.

It is pretty self explanitory at this point. Get a buddy to help you hold the exhaust while you cut it and to help clock the tailpipe to the look you want after the axle. You'll want to go back a retorque the muffler clamps after a few heat cycles or they'll fall off.

Have fun!

Type Valve adjustment in the search forum I think you might

find something there, it was in one of the TDR magazines.

Alright I will do that! You think I will be able to use the same valve cover gasket. I just don't feel like spending 145 for a gasket today!
