Just as a follow-up to the question of the correct lubricant for the NV4500. Per FCA, P/N 4637579 has been superseded to P/N 4874459. P/N 4874459, a 75W-85 synthetiic gear lubricant has been replaced by 68218057AB (ATF +4). The supersedence narrative from Chrysler is this: "Per engineering and SRT, ATF can be used in lieu of gear lubricant" for the NV4500. (If you have the NV5600, different specs may apply.)

You can check with your own local Dodge dealer but I am going to hunt down the gear lubricant that matches the original spec when I next change oil in my NV4500. ATF +4 seems way too light for the NV4500 but what do I know? I am cautious of this recommendation although my transfer case uses automatic transmission fluid.

If anyone has better/different information, I am all ears.

Just to tally it all up for you, this thread has three product recommendations.

Amsoil Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 (used to be called MTG) is/was used by:
  • Shiner
  • Myself

Torque King is/was used by:
  • JeepBuilder

GM 19369226 is/was used by:
  • GAmes

Last time I checked the GM supply route there oil was $ 25.00 a gt. The redline was $15.00 from Torque King. Seven States Trans and gear has it to, don't know how much.
Amazon is way out of line on there price. But there Redline is for 4 gts at $16.pluse a gt. @ 66+. per case.
I just switched to Redline and it seams to work OK. Even states it for the NV4500 on the label.
Standard trans uses Redline now to.
