I read about this in another forum. I added 1 bottle 32oz. of 2-stroke oil (suzuki cci). I have not finished my 1st tank but It looks like I should get 600mi to a tank. The most I have ever gotten was 560 pushing it! I usually get 16. 5-17 mpg. This looks even better! (18-19?)I will keep you posted.

I don't know how it will work on the new fuel, but I have been adding used motor oil to my fuel for years. I am CONVINCED that it improves the fuel economy... bisides being free fuel!!!

What is your ratio, I have got 4gal in my garage I would love to get rid of

I am unaware of a ULSD thread? I read about it threw a different forum (cumminsforum). I see no reason it would hurt. The way I see it it is extra lubricant. I have not completed a full tank but it seems like I am getting more miles to a tank.

I have 1st and 2nd gen trucks... no 3rd gen. The '92 smokes badly if you add more than a couple of quarts to a typical fill. The 01. 5 will swallow a gallon per fill without a problem. I add 2 gallons per fill when I have enough oil. I have run heavier, but I am happy at 2 gal per tank.

Now this might just be a good thing. The smell of diesel mixed with Klotz in the morning sounds good.
LOL I have burned a pint of dino 2 stroke oil per tank for some time. Ran out of the cheap stuff and had to dip into my Ipone strawberry 2 stroke sled oil. Couldn't even smell it. I was looking forward to blowing stawberry fumes into people's windows lol. "What the $%#& is that black smoke... wow! It's smells like stawberries!"

I used 2 stroke oil in my previous truck with good results.

2004. 5 and newer trucks have a catalitic converter and I don't know how detramental the 2 stroke oil will be to it so I choose not to use 2 stroke oil until others have used it without problems.

Filled tank up tonight. 18. 4 mpg hand calc. , Best ever. I will post after second tank. The best I ever had previous was 17. 5!

I've been using Wal-Mart Super Tech Outboard 2-Cycle Ashless TC-W3 Engine Oil since day one, costs $7. 62 per gal. I have 20k with no problems. I use 24 oz 2-stroke oil with 4 oz Power Service Diesel Kleen for every 5 gal of fuel. My kitty ain't dead yet. I drive a few hundred miles daily and occasionally run her hard to blow out carbon. No smoke just bumper soot.

i drive a few hundred miles every few weeks, and i run her hard every day :-laf:-laf:-laf

that could be why i get poor fuel economy too;)

This was the first time I got 600mi. to a tank. It took 32. 6 gal. including 4oz. of fuel additive and 32oz. of 2-stroke oil. =18. 4mpg

I have been using the fuel additive for the past 5k and no gain in mileage. I dont no if its because I just turned 10k on the odomometer or what, but this 2-stroke oil seems to work. I will see how the next tank works out.

I have a couple of thoughts..... you might consider this... .

1 - if this tints your fuel... . the dealer might notice it later on with a warranty issue... . I'm guessing it will stain the fuel system like 2 cycle oil does in my chainsaw, weed eater... . etc... .

2 - if you have dirt, heavy metals in your waste oil... . it would be a shame for it to get past the fuel filter into the injection system..... remember that a drop or two of water into the injection system is enough to wipe away the lubrication and gall parts... what about the heavy metals left in the engine oil... . is this really worth the risk... .

I know that years ago... . 25 or so a friend of mine was a oiler (serviced a fleet of earth moving equipment) and they always put the waste oil in the tanks... . but these vehicle had pistons that were 6" in diameter..... and fuel systems with low pressure injectors and nozzles you could almost put a tooth pick through... ...

Just my thoughts... .

Although I am not an expert in these matters, I have to agree with Jelag on the use of used motor oil in our fuel systems.

Sometimes, "things just don't sound right" & this is one of them, to me. Some of us are making extra efforts to filter our fuel to the 2 micron level, thinking that this will increase the life expectancy of our HPCR fuel delivery systems. It's hard for me to believe that anyone would put used engine oil into their fuel system.

If the old oil was good enough to put into the fuel system, why not just leave it in the crankcase? You replace the oil because it's worn out & filthy. I can't imagine putting that stuff into my fuel system.

I don't mean to offend anyone that is following this practice but, for those that are considering trying to use the used motor oil, you may want to reconsider & thoroughly investigate this practice.

Once again, no offence meant to anyone using this method & I wish you the best of luck using the used motor oil. At the very least, you are trying to introduce more lubricity to the ULSD.

I've heard of putting in a Quart of new motor oil every once in a while but the used motor oil would make me nervous. As was posted previously you drain it from the crankcase because its dirty. That being said it is aparently working for some of you guys?

I agree with the used engine oil being no good. But 1 qt. of 2-stroke oil should not discolor the fuel. The ratio is like 135:1 in a 34 gal. tank.

If your going to run engine oil in your fuel use non-detergent type oils. The additives in modern oils are not meant to burn. The tight tolerances/high pressure in the fuel system could be affected also from the additives. This leads me to beleave that used modern day oils should not be burned through our CP3 fuel systems.

pwr2tow,

Have you ever tried to burn non-detergent motor oil? It gums things up. While what you say makes sence, in practice, the opposite is true... high detergent oils work better than non-detergents.

I agree that the finer you can filter the fuel the better. I run a pre-filter ahead of the factory filter. However, the factory filter is designed to filter out ANYTHING harmful to the injection system. I have been running used oil in my fuel for over half a million miles and see no problem.
