Competition May Madness Drag results are coming in

Competition Brandon wins again

well guys i had a ball this year at mm. 1st off i would like to thank joe d. and the pahrump dodge dealer. it was great to see dd open there shop up for 2 and half days for us. it was only supposed to be wed-thurs but i couldn't make it until friday morning and they made a exception for a few of us late comers.

dd had blown a turbo on monday but had made a run of 785?hp but sense it wasn't done in the view of all the tdr members it didn't count for the competition although it didn't matter. marks truck from dd did 740, christian from bd did 733, and i hit 731. it is cool that us three were within 10hp. i need to go back to the drawing board i guess.

friday night we had the sled pulls. we had two classes, less than 500hp and over 500hp. i kicked butt in the over 500hp class. we added up our 2 runs. i was over 100' above the 2nd place truck. the less than 500 trucks had the same setting as we did on the sled. chris was around 50' behind me in his class. i want to thank everyone who has helped me set my truck up for pulling, it worked great!!! i never hit any drugs but i will if i have to.

sunday we went drag racing and i made 7 runs and i was trying to get used to launching on my new tires in 2wd. it ran about what i figured it would. i ran right at 13 on #2 and keith and i got into the 11's in our grudge match.

kieth and i have been harrassing each other for quite awhile now, and this was a great chance to settle up. we could hardley see the tree becuase of the smoke, but on my video we leave at the exact same time. we were side by side at the 1/8 mile and he pulled my by half a truck length at the end of the 1/4. you couldn't ask for a more even race.

believe it or not there was hardley any transmission talk. :D it was cool to see i mixture of transmission's and power makers all so close in power and perfromance. i think it opens people's eyes up to different choices out there.

i wish ats could have found the time to sled pull or drag race, but i guess they were busy. i was a little scared of don's truck with all the talk going around. but i guess it was just talk sense he didn't come down and spank all of us at the track's. it seems silly to trailer your truck all that way and then not compete, oh well.

i had a great weekend, expect i broke a out-put shaft on thursday:D it's about time i've been trying for month's. now that mm is over i can start planning for muncie!!!!

here is a link for the run kieth and i made, and a burnout i got a little carried away with.

I think it's really  that DD and BD company trucks, and Jim's "sponsored" truck are all daily drivers and all are so close in peak hp and run in the low 12/high 11 second area. Christian/BD and Jim Fuller both came long distances for MM02 and had the confidence in their rides to compete, including sled pulling. I was also pleased to meet Jim (we didn't get to talk much last December), a real gentleman and worthy competitor. I already knew Christian and Lawrence, of course, also gentlemen while being real competitors on the track. As role models for some of the more abrasive to learn from, it was edifying to see that all three were able to stand in the same room, and even converse ;) without a fight :D

Going beyond mere professionalism and tolerance, at May Madness we found that camaraderie and mutual respect were the rules rather than the exceptions.

It was my privilege to help such fine folks, these and all the others who attended, to get together and share their experiences, interests, and engage in friendly competition. :)

Well Said... After all, isn't this what it's all about? Congrats and thanks to all who make such events a great success. :)

I will 2nd and 3rd on all of Jim's comments--the whole time we were there, no matter what was happening, you never heard anyone getting into a crazy argument over this or that--it was indeed great to put names to handles and the dealership was great--they offered to stay open as late as needed on Saturday to help fix the trucks that broke during the sled pull---a SUPER THANKS to Joe D. for putting this together---chris

I would've liked to run with you big dogs, but I guess I was scared of breaking something like my head gasket. Hopefully I will be a little more ready next time. It was still alot of fun to meet people from the TDR even if I didn't compete in the events.

Thanks to Joe for setting up the events and thanks to everybody that showed to make it all happen.

Kevin.

May Madness

I too had a great time ... I want to thank Joe D. and staff of Saiitu Truddeau Dodge for a great job they did in putting together the event... I would also like to thank. Diesel Dynamics, BD, ATS, DTT employees and staff for the new frendships that were renewed and made.

Dispite all the controversity, ratting and raving, second guessing, all by those who weren't there!!!!! Next time show up and really see what went on!

All of you that weren't there, have tried to make this event a war of transmissions, which it was not... . It was good healthy competition between, HP, racing, driving and truck pulling skills. It was about bringing what you got, do what you can, same place same time. I did the best I could, with what I had, no excuses, and had a blast... . There is always next time... .

Competition is healthy among the vendors it sharpens their skills and products.

You will note, anyone that was actually there has not bashed anyone or any vendor...

STEVE

P. S. The best events were the nitely get-togethers at Blaire Pines trailer for margaritas..... Oo. :D

My MM was very brief, I got to Pahrump about 11:30 Friday and checked out the trucks outside the tent. I talked to Bill Swail for a while about his Earthroamer, which was very interesting, and then after checking out the vendors and getting a tool tray for the truck I listened to the first 2 lectures and then was lucky enough to catch Christian Roth and jaw with him for a while.

I had to run to previous commitments after that but will be attending the Antelope Valley meeting coming up when I hope to meet up with some more folks.

MM

I had fun even though I was getting too much sun during the day.

I think we represented our club well with a victory for Chris in the pulls. A trophy for Blair and his neatnickmobile:) And a best time for my truck at the track.

I enjoyed the camraderie at the RV park in the evening/early morning.

I especially like my new "CUMMINS power" rocker panels from Northwest Custom. Not sure how many horsepower they are good for, but I wouldn't be without them now:D

Very well done this year, I don't know how joe does it. I mean all the logistics and everything to bring it all together is amazing.

I got there tues night and stayed til Sun. I entered in the truck pull and for the feet, I was 3rd in the class. I did 2 232ft and 1 176ft when they turned up the weight.

I won "TOP CUSTOM DODGE" at the show and shine and I won a door prize at the banquet. For those of you who don't know my name to the truck, it was the bronze W/ drftwood bottom truck.

Glad I went. Thanks to Dave at Dodge for the get togethers for some serious BS'n and informal show and shine for show only and more BS'n:D

Can't wait til next yearOo. Oo. Oo.

I went, I dynoed, sled pulled, and dragged race. I did pretty good in my mind.

I also met alot of very interesting/awesome people along the way.

I was at Diesel Dynamics Tues, Wed, Thur, and part of Friday. Needless to say I learned alot. Thanks to the DD gang for making John and me feel welcome.

And thanks to everyone else I met along the way for making it a wonderful event.

It was really great to put faces to the handles used on the website. It was great to make so many friends at this event! I cant wait until the next eventOo. :D

A BIG thank you to Joe D, Saiitu Truddeau Dodge and all the other folks that made MM02 so much fun and worth driving out there for. I am late in posting my thanks as I went for a little 5500 mile drive after MM and just got home. Just had to go see Piers as I was so close and a few liitle adjustments seem to be in order as long as I was there. I met a lot of nice folks and had a ball. Thanks Again

John
