After several months of hiatus I'm back with the TDR (was "rrxp689") and have good news.

Like alot of the posts regarding fuel mileage concerns, I was a bit worried when my 2001 was only getting 14-15mpg the first 6000 miles or so. My bombed 95 was getting 17-18 and I hated taking a set backward. Anyway, the mileage (as well as power) started improving after 6000 miles. It now has 12,000 on it and last weekend on a trip from Louisville to Atlanta and back it averaged 19. 9mpg roundtrip! I was so excited the last couple hundred miles when I started to realize that the average would come out very close to 20. For the record I drove 1090 miles and used 54. 6 gallons of fuel. Made several stops and probably averaged around 75mph while I was on the highway. All in one day, solo, I might add.

My conclusion is that my Cummins is finally coming into it's own. The power is still not what my 95 was (apples to oranges) but I'm loving the mileage and just having a new truck. If you're disappointed in the mileage on your new truck, give it a while.

Cool. At about 2000 miles I'm getting about 19 MPG, mostly commuting 20 miles each way to Denver Intl A/P. I think that I'll get over 20 on this tank. Is your truck a long bed, auto or manual, etc. ?

Driving around town and rural driving at 55 mpg I got 18. 48 mpg on the last 19. 3 gallons! Some of the guys at work with gassers get 17 mpg on the eway!

Two people at work have durango's and they get between 10 - 18 mpg. The one lady was told by her husband NEVER to go over 66 mph, she is the one that gets 10-14 mpg. I can't wait to tell her I drive 242 miles pulling a two axle car hauler with a car and got 12. 57 mpg at 75 mph! I am sure she will flip!

Fueled up yesterday morning and took Hwy 17 South out of Savannah to Brunswick and back. That is a level, straight road. I drove 55 all the way except for the small towns which drop to 45/35. I got 23. 4 MPG. The computer showed over 21 (average for the last 30 gal) for the first time in its life. I saw on another post where Evan Beck got over 23. I'm very happy with the mileage this truck gets.

Yeah, John. I can't touch your constant throttle mileage of 26 but I was happy when I stopped back and fueled up and did the calculation. Oh yeah, I took my time, fueled before I started to the top of the neck and fueled to the top of the neck at the same station when I got back so there wouldn't be any "same amount of fuel" argument. Sounds like Evan is doing real good with his. BTW, there was light traffic and moderate wind gusts on the down trip and a 5/10 mph headwind coming back so the driving was typical.

Good Job Chris!

I am at 1400 miles, halfway through 4th tank, computer says I'm at 20. 2 consistently, but when I do the math I am actually at 21. 4. I drive metro Dallas half the time and go out on the road twice a week for 120 miles going 65-70 the whole way. I am very happy about this. I'll do my 7000 pound tow break in at about 3000-5000 miles.

My truck is a totally stock 2001 QC SB 2wd ETH with 3. 56 gears. I have also found that at 55 in 6th my computer reads 25 the whole time. Can't keep with the snail's pace however.

Happy turbo winding everyone
Fritz
