FWIW (maybe nothing...), thought I'd provide this to the crowd. Got my truck in Nov '02, and since I've used it very little since Nov '22, I'm calling this a 20-year summary of my experiences with it:

Overall, it's been a fantastically dependable and capable truck. It's been used for general purposes (160k), with most towing (20k) being light for its capabilities (20-ft trailer with a sand buggy and two ATVs, one ATV in the bed, and LOTS of gear). When it's been used for heavy towing (19k miles), it's been (admittedly) overweight (20k-loaded toyhauler) and worked hard but never abused.

Other than the well-known blend door problems (mine's stuck in dash-flow only), literally the only consistent problem I've had with it has probably been caused by me. No matter how hot it gets, I don't need nor like a/c, so that's been inop for years and will leak any refrigerant put into it. I'm gonna fully rebuild the a/c system hopefully this year. All front-end parts are original, as are the clutch and rear brakes. I have upgraded the injectors and gone to a one-piece driveshaft. Other mods/etc are in my signature.

Here are some stats I've accumulated over the years:

Most miles between adding fuel: 1411 (on two tanks)
Least miles between adding fuel: 41
Most gallons of fuel added: 79.39
Least gallons of fuel added: 2.589
Best MPG: 24.64 (with a big NM wind behind)
Worst MPG: 4.77 (towing 20k toyhauler into a huge NM wind at 65 mph)
Most $ spent adding fuel: $281.29
Least $ spent adding fuel: $7.25
Highest dollar-per-mile between adding fuel (tracked only recently): .445
Lowest dollar-per-mile between adding fuel (tracked only recently): .225
Total miles driven: 199,517
Highest avg miles between adding fuel: 452.26
Lowest avg miles between adding fuel: 386.94
Total fuel gallons added: 12,534.808
Highest avg fuel gallons added: 28.35
Lowest avg fuel gallons added: 24.11
Highest avg lifetime mpg: 17.04
Lowest avg lifetime mpg: 15.89
Total $ spent on fuel: $32,825.63
Highest avg $ spent adding fuel: $73.11
Lowest avg $ spent adding fuel: $38.76
Highest lifetime dollar-per-mile between adding fuel (tracked only recently): .165
Lowest lifetime dollar-per-mile between adding fuel (tracked only recently): .163

Well, there 'ya go. Maybe this'll be useful for somebody out there!?

I did the insurance tires maintenance fuel add ons on my old . Cost a lot to operate. It will surprise you . I put $5 k of diesel thru my new 2022 first year 12 k miles. Diesel was 6.50 a gallon in Canada. People just look at me funny when I tell them that. Not believing it I suppose

Total Miles = 199,517
Engine Hours = ?
Total Fuel = 12,535

Lifetime Average MPH =

Lifetime Average MPG =
15.91

B50 engine life at 350m-miles is 10,000-hours
(35-MPH)

Fuel burn to meet goal is 20,000-gallons.
(17.5-MPG)

15-MPG Average is highly typical CTD owner number.

Average MPH moderates fuel burn number.
(Commercial hauler with low MPG, but high MPH lifetime totals).

Big truck fleets look at this set to determine either early sale of equipment, or reduce/increase maintenance $$ per power unit.

This is similar to my records for my 2008 Mega Cab.

I purchased the truck new in November 2007 with 29 Miles on the OD. For the main part I was the only driver for this truck, the truck now has 145,378 miles and still counting. I track a yearly average closing my records every November of each year. So, for the last 15 years from Nov 2007 to November 2022 the results are:

Total miles 144,563 miles.

Total fuel used 10,858 gallons.

MPG 13.37

Total fuel cost was $34,006 for a cost per mile of $0.24.

My maintenance cost for this period was $16,627 for a cost of $0.12 per mile. The engine and transmission are original with no work done to them other than service requirements. The entire front end steering linkage has been rebuilt, tires, shocks, brakes and batteries along with new leather front seat upholstery are the main cost inputs for me.

I used my truck for mainly pulling our 5er and hauling items for the house. Since the 5er is now parked in an RV resort and we are not traveling the country, the miles will not be plying up as much as before. For the time period Nov 21 too Nov 22 I only put 1,800 miles on the truck.
