dieselman359,

do you have a tach? if so, about how many rpms are you running at close to 80? also what transmission do you have/rear end gears? my truck @ 65mph is at bout 1800-1900rpms. i have the getrag with 3. 56 rear. i also have 35 inch tires.

2k crusie RPM is not a problem. Most of my trips home are 12 hours one way. I run 2K all the way. My truck has 3:07's in it. So I am above the posted speed limit most of the way. :D

HTML:
assume much more than 2k would be a little harder on the motor for more than an hour or so

Shouldn't be a problem. I run over that often. Boats run over that... I once ran my boat's 6bta at 2300 for 13 hours straight..... not an issue, well within Cummins guidlines.

Thanks guys for bringing JGrefenstette up to speed. With the GV and 3. 54's my truck turns about 1800rpm @ 80mph. Your right Pete, I guess that I ran outa steam. No Philip, the old truck has about 317K on it, I don't get a chance to drive it much. The other week after it sat for a while I turned the key, cycled the heater and it turned over about a 1/4 turn, battery dead. Put the charger on, drove to town, parked on a hill, just in case, fired right up. :D

Ditto what Jay said about high RPMs and long hours. We ran the Detroits on our landing craft for almost 24 hours straight, at about 2200 RPM, on a Caribbean transit. It was idling for long periods that messed them up.

Hmmmm????

This could be serious! I had over looked this aspect of the issue... I think I have 9 first gens, 1 4BT bread van And an 89 VW Jetta VE pump equipped diesel

in my drive way/ cement front yard... I guess that leaves me a Power redneck??? LOL...

I think had better sell a few trucks before I buy any more . .

Anytime there are four or more 1st Gens in da same drive way... ... ... ... .

... ... ..... You just might be a red neck.

My dispatcher is from Tennessee and I always tell him "If your alma mater fight song is traditionally played on a banjo, you might be a redneck... " So you have a couple things going for you!:-laf

dash board

I would expect that there are many members that could show us some really high odometer numbers.

Mine are kms, so multipy by 60% for "miles"

Ummmm,,,,,,Phil.

You know them parts you'd like me to install onto your truck; Front shocks,Ball joints,Springs etc?

They may not be... ..... just sayin.

Scott,

Did I ever mention what a great musician you are?? I'm talking Roy Clark good! (yes, I know this looks like groveling... . because it is!)

Greenleaf, it's eerie how much your truck looks like mine... I mean, if you added stacks, a good amount of dents and dings and a little cancer under the doors... but hey, exact same color scheme, extended cab long bed 4x4. I've never actually seen another one that matches mine. Anyway, nice truck.

I turn 200,000 last year. Now I'm at 247k and some odd numbers. I bought the truck at roughly 148k and my title says 148,000 even, but now in the past month my odo stopped so I can't even celebrate the 100,000 mile-since-I-bought-it mark... funny the way things turn out, eh?
