I've been looking at may different catalogs & web sites for accessories for my 2001 3500 Ram. Some show items for '94-00 models. Are there ANY differences between the 2000 & 2001 models as far as cosmetics are concerned? I figure there are none, but just wondering if the catalogs & web sites just need to be updated #ad

Thanks in advance for all responses.

I had a Y2K, and now have an '01. The only body mods were behind the back doors on the quad cab, there are no body moldings. That little piece is not there on the '01. You also lose the molding on the tailgate. I liked that piece, and since both of my trucks were the same color, I kept my old tailgate.

Additionally, I got a Dana 80 rearend with disc brakes. The Y2K had drums and a 70.

I have also noticed when looking for splashguards/mudflaps at the dealer, that they list separate ones for 2001-up. After questioning, the counter "parts expert" checked with DC and reported that the 2001-up would not fit my 99 3500. Are the wheelboxes on the 2001 different? Can't see any difference when comparing the two.

The wheel housings on the '00 3500s are different from the '99s and earlier--must be because of the front suspension, brake, hub, and wheel change on the '00. There are no body side moldings on the pickup box on the '00 just like the '01. On the '01, they dropped the plastic insert on the tailgate.

Actually, the tailgate molding didn't disappear until the 2001. 5. My 2001 still has it - instead of rear disc brakes. #ad
I think my 2001 is actually a 2000 with just the model year changed. I ordered it in Feb, 2000. By then, the 2000 year was done. I don't know of any real differences between the 2000 and 2001. The 2001. 5 has a few differences, though.

Fireman Dave,

OOPS!! You're right. For the . 5 you gain disc brakes on the rear and lost the plastic trim on the tailgate.

The big change was on the 2000 3500 front suspension, steering, brakes, hubs, wheels, and larger tires. At the '99 National Rally in Columbus, IN, Dodge had a '00 3500 6 speed chassis on display without the cab and bed to show all the changes. They also had some trucks out on the parking lot with 6 speeds in them for us to drive and try out. I drove one--had to have one after that!!

To everyone that replied:

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question. I'm not going to worry now about ordering accessories for my 2001 (not 2001. 5) when 2000 is listed as applicable. I guess they'll update their catalogs and Web pages some day to include the 2001.

Thanks again!! #ad
